Just around the corner a building is going up. The terrain slopes down from this view, so this is about the fifth and sixth stories and above.



I walk by it everyday to work. Here is a view on the way.



As it's gone up I've noticed these, what look to be some kind of shock absorbers circling the exterior edge of the fourth story.





Here they are lining another side of the building.



They appear to be some kind of shock absorbing system as an earthquake safety measure. I thought it was cool.

I'll throw these in just to be mean.

That is definitely for seismic stability. The Japanese are leaders when it comes to seismic design. And for good reason.

You should say "What the Heaven?" since you are only 2 minutes away.

That place always has a line. I remember coming home from a Japanese opera (I insisted we leave at the first intermission) one night near there and I stopping off for some take-home gyoza. Wonderful!

You are right, the pictures of Osho's and the gyoza is just plain mean to those of us that are 6000 or there abouts, miles away
