is this for real? I'm having some deja vu. Have you searched the forum? I swear someone has asked this exact question before. Maybe it was another board....Originally posted by Soccermom View PostAnyone know anything about this breed of dog? have one? know if they are good dogs to have around kids?Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. Almost all breeds if properly socialized and trained can be trusted with kids. From an innate standpoint, the Rhodesian isn't the easist dog to own as it can rather aloof with strangers and challenging to train. Don't skimp on the training. It tends to trust few. But, much like the popular Doberman, that's also what helps make it an excellent watch dog. I've know several folks with good Rhodesians. One in particular was a former police dog in SA. Heck of a dog.
I wouldn't hesitate to get one. Then again, I can't come up with a breed I wouldn't feel comfortable to own, except perhaps a Wolf Hybrid.

Another way to state this is to say that a dog is as good or as bad as its owner.Originally posted by mUUser View PostAlmost all breeds if properly socialized and trained can be trusted with kids. I'm not familiar with this particular breed, but like any dog, it can be a great member of a family as long as it knows that the humans are the masters."Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the creed of ignorance and the gospel of envy; its inherent virtue is the equal sharing of misery." - Winston Churchill
