Passengers who express disgust when a mother with a young baby sits in the adjacent seat are a real pet peeve. The poor little girl in front of me can't be over twenty, and her baby is as cute as a button. She's obviously tired and just wants to be home. When her neighbor gave an audible sigh of disgust at her sitting next to him I almost slapped him.

I can feel your anger emanating through my computer screen, so maybe now isn't the best time to admit I usually do the same.
(ok, it's not ever audible, but basically the same reaction)So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

This is one of my pet peeves as well. Me and Gidget were talking about this tonight in fact as her mother just flew in from Oregon.Originally posted by cowboy View PostPassengers who express disgust when a mother with a young baby sits in the adjacent seat are a real pet peeve. Last year we flew back to Utah to finalize my step child adoption without our little girl. On our flight back we sat next to this lady who was talking my ear off about the Cinnabon franchise she just bought. She said it was her dream. Anyway, in front of us was a young mother like you describe whose child was giving her a heck of a time. And this Cinnabon lady just went off about this child. It was all I could do to not smack her."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

You had the perfect chance to tell the woman that until she stops yapping about Cinnabon, she has no right to gripe about a child on the plane that bothers her.Originally posted by Surfah View PostThis is one of my pet peeves as well. You see, this is one of my pet peeves on a plane; people who won't shut up, when all I am interested in is either 1) sleeping, 2) reading, 3) looking out the window at the passing geography 4) listening to my iPod. As you might guess, I am not the talkative type on a plane and I don't want to listen to a stranger yap on and on all while invading my space, as it were.Originally posted by il Padrino Ute View PostYou had the perfect chance to tell the woman that until she stops yapping about Cinnabon, she has no right to gripe about a child on the plane that bothers her.Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the universe.

When our first was under a year old, we were boarding a flight and a guy cracked wise as we sat down next to him; his comment was in disgust of having to sit next to a baby for the flight. I felt like giving him the don't-bother-my-friend, he's-dead-tired move...Originally posted by cowboy View PostWhen her neighbor gave an audible sigh of disgust at her sitting next to him I almost slapped him.

Sorry, I struggle in this regard. There's nothing worse on an airplane than a baby that won't stop crying. Some people have genuinely sensitive ears and the sound of babies crying is painful. Their flight is ruined when a mother brings a baby too young to be flying and that baby screams the whole time.Originally posted by cowboy View PostPassengers who express disgust when a mother with a young baby sits in the adjacent seat are a real pet peeve. Why do you only extend compassion to the mother instead of also considering the people who paid the same amount for their tickets but who have no interest in having a screaming baby in their ear?Visca Catalunya Lliure

I think there's a lack of empathy on both sides, also a little ignorance. All flights suck. I recommend those foam earplugs to people who cannot 'stomach' a child's cries on a plane. It used to bother me until I had kids. Now, I can almost ignore it.Originally posted by Tim View PostSorry, I struggle in this regard. I think you will someday not agree with this statement.Originally posted by Tim View PostI'm actually not kidding. Nothing ruins a flight like a screaming baby. Yep, spoken like a non-parent. You develop a little more empathy once you have kids of your own. I know that sounds patronizing but it's true. When I hear a crying kid on a plane and the parent just looks mortified I just want them to know "Hey no worries. I've been there."Originally posted by Tim View PostI'm actually not kidding. None of them date. They hang out. They text. They sit in the same car or room and don't say a word...they text. Then, they go home and whack off to internet porn.
I think that's the sad truth about why these kids are retards.

Um... So flying is a luxury reserved for the quiet? I am guessing you are not much of a public transit kind of guy. I also guess you have never lived in New York City.Originally posted by Tim View PostI'm actually not kidding. Nothing ruins a flight like a screaming baby. Cover your sensitive ears with your earphones...close your eyes...and bear it.
If you can't tolerate other people you should buy your own airplane or take a private jet.
