It would be interesting to see some data on that. Like other places in the country, Utah universities (especially BYU) are witnessing a growing imbalance with more female than male students.

You are probably right about professional degrees, however.

We visited Wilson's Creek last year. I learned that the first General to die in battle, on either side, died during this battle. Knowledge is power!

The problem is that everyone and their dog has a BA or BS at this point. Education is encouraged after high school but that encouragement basically stops when the girl gets married.

I told the story a three years ago about the girl graduating from high school from my wife's hometown that got into Stanford but chose to go to BYU. She was going to major either in Math or some variety of Engineering.

She got married the summer after her freshman year and now has a kid. Hopefully she's at least taking independent study courses.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Sorry, but the flag of Texas holds no such distinction from other state flags. In certain situations, any flag, of any state can fly at the same height as the US flag. There is no special rule for Texas.

Also, in St. Louis, it is illegal to sit on the curb of any city street and drink beer from a bucket. St. Louis City ordinances also still prohibits a milkman from running while on duty.

In various communities in Missouri it is a crime to feed intoxicating substances to an elephant

Cool but Obscure Fact about Texas: People and many state government offices in Texas still fly the state flag the same height as the US flag and don't give a rat's ass what the federal government thinks.

Typically, it's not getting married that stops a female's education, it's motherhood. Although, I met a few former female students who dropped out of BYU to work full-time to support their husband's education. I was fortunate to have in-laws who continued to financially support their daughter's education after we married.
