No more $30/month unlimited data plan for the iPad 3G (and iPhone). It has been replaced with a $25/month plan with a 2GB transfer limit (or $15/month for a whopping 200MB of data). If you get an iPad 3G and sign up for the AT&T unlimited plan before June 7th you may get grandfather on the old unlimited plan.

So I have been playing with an iPad all week (work toy I didn't buy it), in fact I am typing this post on it right now. So here's my review.

It's a cool toy. But the novelty wears off quick. After the initial cool gadget factor wears off (about 20 minutes or as long as it takes to familiarize yourself with it) it doesn't do much. I just don't get it. I got a 3G version for testing and evaluation and it's less that impressive. Currently I am on our home wi-fi and I swear that my Evo loads pages faster on wi-fi and 3G. No lie. This thing is just a giant iPod Touch. But it's rather awkward and cumbersome. Holding it is a pain in the ass. I am not overly impressed either with the keyboard. I can post just as fast on my cell phone. In fact my cell phone's keyboard is just as responsive and has more features with arrow keys that allow me to navigate through text when I am posting or editing something much easier. Really the only thing that I like is the Netflix app that allows me to stream movies. Very cool. Otherwise this thing is a colossal disappointment. I will never buy one, not as currently constituted anyway.

One interesting usage I recently saw was at Barbacco, a restaurant in the financial district of San Francisco. There was one at each table and it contained the wine menu (which is quite lengthy at this place). I thought it was pretty cool, but would've been even better if you could order from it, which you can't.

Agreed on all counts. I am using it right now and most pages are loading slower than our phones. This thing is weak.

One other thing I have to give major props on is battery life. It's awesome.

And you're right, it's cool to watch movies on and such if you travel. But again, with no kickstand or anything to prop it up with, it's just awkward to hold for two hours while watching a movie.

The cases have kick stands that work quite nicely.

Yes. But the phone comes with a kickstand. And besides, I don't see the two as related. I wouldn't buy a cover for an iPad, but rather a sleeve to carry it in.

Well the difference is a phone goes in and out of your pocket, onto a desk, dresser, etc a million times a day. At least mine does. There are million ways the phone can get damaged even in your pocket. The iPad sits there unless I am traveling.
