    Sorry you have small hands.

      • anyone had the the orientation get stuck on their 6 plus? it's happened a few times and is annoying. also, apparently you can only use a fingerprint for the App Store if you also use a lock code. that's dumb. otherwise it's pretty darn neat.

i think it is happening because of the new OS, not the new phone. it is annoying.

Yeah the new OS blows. It's tricking me into thinking my 5 is obsolete.

            • I give new iOS versions at least three or four weeks before deciding whether to install them. By that time, all of the early adopters have posted extensively about any bugs in the software. I figure I'll let others be the guinea pigs. iOS 7 is still working great for me.

                • The 6+ is great. I really am enjoying the girth of it. It is too big to use while driving, which is frustrating but probably a good thing.

                      • I've got an older iMac (purchased back in 2008 or 2009) that we keep upstairs for the kids to use. They mainly play games and do internet homework stuff on it. I think it originally came with OSX Leopard but Snow Leopard came out almost immediately so I did the free upgrade. It worked great for many, many years until we decided we wanted something better and more powerful. Before I moved it upstairs, I upgraded it to Mavericks. It slowed down quite a bit...in fact it's sometimes painfully slow...not that I care too much since I never use it but it's annoying to constantly hear the kids cry about how long it takes to boot up Minecraft.

So I'm wondering if reinstalling Snow Leopard or maybe just Mountain Lion would at least speed it up a bit. I really have no files on it that I need so wiping out the hard drive and reinstalling isn't an issue. I just don't want to go down that path if I get no benefit out of it. By way of reference, the iMac came with 4gb or ram but I upgraded it to 8gb, but that was before the Mavericks upgrade so I have no idea if it ever helped with anything.

                        Thoughts?

Minecraft is really dumb. That might not be the kind of thought you were looking for, but it was a pretty open ended question.

                          • Beefed up iPhone crypto will lead to a child dying, DOJ warned Apple execs

The No. 2 official at the Justice Department recently warned top Apple executives that stronger encryption protections added to iPhones would lead to a horrific tragedy, such as a child dying, because police couldn't access a suspect's device, The Wall Street Journal reported Wednesday.

The beefed up protections, Apple recently disclosed, mean that even when company officials are served with a court order, they will be unable to retrieve potentially crucial evidence such as photos, messages, or contacts stored on iPhones and iPads. Instead, the data can be accessed only by people who know the passcode that serves as the encryption key.

Justice Department officials wasted no time objecting to the changes and used the scenario of a child being kidnapped and murdered to drive home their claim that Apple was "marketing to criminals." According to the WSJ, Justice Department officials including Deputy Attorney General James Cole met with Apple General Counsel Bruce Sewell and two other company employees on October 1. Reporters Devlin Barrett, Danny Yadron, and Daisuke Wakabayashi gave the following account, which they attributed to the recollections of people who attended.

In his fourth-floor conference room, Mr. Cole told the Apple officials they were marketing to criminals.

At one point, he read aloud from a printout of Apple’s announcement, quoting a section in which the company said that under the new system Apple couldn’t cooperate with a court order to retrieve data from a phone even if it wanted to.

Mr. Cole offered the Apple team a gruesome prediction: At some future date, a child will die, and police will say they would have been able to rescue the child, or capture the killer, if only they could have looked inside a certain phone.

                            • OnePlus One: Guys I have a couple of invites to purchase one to share. This phone is amazing. Great battery, great screen, flagship specs, runs Cyanogen Mod. Can only be used on GSM networks so AT&T and T-Mobile with a micro sim.

If anyone is interested PM me.

Here's the catch, the invites to purchase expire in 22 hours. So the invite needs to be accepted and the phone purchased in that time frame. OnePlus uses PayPal for all purchases. So you need a PayPal account to purchase. The phone is $349 + shipping for the black 64GB version. It's ridiculously cheap. I paid $500 for my Gidget's S5 off contract and that was a deal. I wouldn't trade my One for her S5.

This is one of the best Android phones out there right now. Check out all the numerous reviews for yourself. I have been using this phone daily for 2 months now. Best phone I have ever owned.

                              • So my wife and I have decided to ask Santa for an iPad mini 2 for our kids to share as part of their Christmas. My wife insists that we need the 32 GB because the 16 GB doesn't seem like enough space. We should be able to get the mini 2 32 GB at Target for $315, but Target is out of stock, so "should" isn't doing us any favors. Best Buy has it for $350 or we can get a mini 3 (64 GB) from Target for $400.

What would you do? The kids are 7 and 5, so I'm not convinced that they need the 32 GB, but I hate the idea of a "I told you so" down the road. So, for $50 more, is it worth just upgrading to the 3 with twice the space? Despite really stretching the budget for these kids, I'm leaning towards yes.
