Apple Jan. 27 launch event... what will it be?

I woke up to my wife at 12:30 this morning yelling at the website to work. Finally went through around 12:45. The site quoted an estimated shipping date of 14-21 days. She then received an email confirmation of October 13. Needless to say, she's a little rough this morning.

I'd consider the new big iPhone, but I am too invested in android at this point. I remember I once scoffed when someone said the same about switching from iPhone a few years ago. But I honestly have everything synced through Google for better or worse. I need an upgrade. Still rocking my 2+ year old S3 and it's seen better days. Kind of waiting to see what the new Nexus looks like. Should be out next month. If not, maybe S5 though I don't care for the back of the phone.

I'd wait to see what the Nexus looks like, but barring that, I would go with the G3. The iPhone 6 is almost the exact same size as the Galaxy S4. The iPhone 6 plus is actually longer than the Galaxy Note 4. The G3 falls almost exactly in between the S4 and Note 4 as far as size goes, but the screen size is 5.5 inches. So it's as big as the 6+ screen without the Note/6+ size size. The Note only has a .2 inch bigger screen, but it's almost 1/3 of an inch bigger.

The iPhone 6+ looks like it's in between the Note and the effin' Samsung Mega, I can't imagine that Apple is going to sell a ton of them.

I think the iPhone 6 Plus will be very successful. I wouldn't buy it, but it will be a successful phone. I've found this website extremely helpful in comparison the size of phones. The G3 really did a fantastic job of maximizing screen size without the phone being too big.

It's longer than the Note. The Note has been fairly successful, but you don't see a ton of them.

I suppose success would mean the iPhone 6+ sells 10% as well as the regular iPhone 6 -- but I think that's the ratio we'll be looking at here, a 10 to 1 ratio between regular iPhones and the 6+ behemoth.

I think Apple nailed the right size for the regular iPhone 6. The Galaxy S4 is the perfect size, it has nice sized screen but it still comfortably fits in your pocket.
