CDMA (sprint/VZW) does not allow for simultaneous voice and web surfing. Looks like I will stick to AT&T instead of porting to VZW.
Saw that this afternoon and stuck with the AT&T. I wonder why?

    • I don't recall a single time I wanted to interrupt a conversation to do some web browsing. Does this happen a lot with you folks?

My favorite thing about Sprint is the low cost, unlimited data plan. Least favorite thing is the spotty coverage.

not web browsing, but directing my wife somewhere, or getting a phone number for someone.

The Samsung S3 can. It's because of the CDMA on Sprint and VZW. But the S3 and other phones like the Evo LTE also have SVDO that allows you to surf and talk at the same time.

This. And I do it often.

            • And this is why Apple will sell 50 million of these.

Based on the performance gains, Apple’s history of SoC naming and some other stuff we’ve heard recently, it looks like Apple has integrated two ARM Cortex A15 cores on Samsung’s 32nm LP HK+MG process.

That's interesting, if true. If it is true, I wonder why apple wouldn't want to trumpet that fact.

Because the majority of the public doesn't care about and/or understand out-of-order superscalar pipelining. Just saying it is about 40-50% faster is good enough.

I was thinking, however, that TI had a cortex A15 shipping but I could be wrong.

it is less that and more the fact that many people use their phone as a laptop hotspot while out of wifi range. If you are using it as a hotspot for your laptop and can't make a call while looking at your laptop, that can cramp your style.

I'm already with AT&T so I will stick with them.

                      Gotcha. That makes sense.

I do it now and then to give my kids directions or something but really not that often.

I am grandfathered with AT&T on their unlimited data. If I lose that I would consider jumping to sprint or maybe even cricket and their $55/mo unlimited text, talk and data plan.

                            speaking of which,
The first batch of iPhone 5 smartphones has already sold out on Apple's website, and that's helping the company stock price reach new heights.
The Cupertino-based company's website is saying the iPhone 5 will now take two weeks to ship. That means people who didn't snatch up an iPhone from Apple when it started pre-orders at 12:01 a.m. will have to wait until at least Sept. 28 to receive their device, if they buy it from Apple.com.
However, Apple's network partners -- AT&T, Verizon and Sprint -- are saying they'll ship pre-orders by the phone's listed launch date of Sept. 21.

                            • that happened before so I did my pre-order through ATT.

Preorders for the 4S arrived a day or so early, as well!

                              • Why does Verizon tell me it will cost $848 to upgrade? I guess I'm not preordering I'll just buy a phone online after the release date.
