Tim Cook extremely sorry.

I wonder if Apple Maps would have been released in its current form if Steve Jobs were still at the helm. I guess Siri was released as a beta feature. So perhaps. What do you think Uncle Ted?"Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

I'm surprised you don't--don't you travel a lot?Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI've yet to open my maps on this phone. How often are people using their maps? Daily?
I use it all the time. I'm admittedly a little geeky about tech things and I like to watch it work, even if I could get there without it. I'm also not good with directions. On long trips where I just want to zone out listening to music or podcasts, but don't want to miss my exit or interchange, I'll use it to remind me to take the next exit, or to keep an ETA handy. But mostly when I'm travelling--combine it with yelp to find a new restaurant, for example. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

I have one charger and it sits by my bed. I only have to charge my iPhone once a day thanks to its good battery life. Is the battery life of the GS3 really bad enough that you have to charge it multiple times a day?Originally posted by mpfunk View PostProbably has something to do with people who have invested a lot in accessories such as car chargers, docks, extra chargers, etc.
Apple's stubborn refusal to not use micro-USB is one decision that I don't see how even the biggest Apple apologists can defend."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

It's a better battery, by almost all accounts.
Is the iPhone useless enough that you never drain the battery?

Why I own an iPhone, by Moliere
I was converted to Apple more for the iMac than anything else. I've owned several types of PCs and did just fine with them. I like that they were cheap and worked well and I could get any software I needed...pretty much. The problem with a PC is that you sometimes have to understand computers to work them. Everything isn't well integrated, sometimes functions don't work as intended and you have to do work arounds. I'm fine doing that, but MJ is not computer savvy at all. I used to get calls daily at work and she was frustrated because she couldn't get a DVD to burn or she was getting an error message.
I finally relented and bought an iMac, mostly because I'd heard they were easier to use and better integrated between hardware/software, however I knew they had certain limitations. Well, we've both been pleased with the iMac. We've had it for 3 years and will definitely buy a new one when it's time. I no longer get the frustrating calls....well not about the computer.
After having the iMac, it was a natural progression to get an iPhone as the two work seamlessly together. We also got an Apple TV, which has been a blast when paired with the iPhone and iMac as well as iTunes.
I guess this post is just to expound a bit on why I own an iPhone. I know it doesn't have expandable memory, you can't replace the battery, it's less customizable, and you can't transfer playlists by buttrubbing two of them together, but it's a cool phone that does everything I need and it has made my life much easier.
Btw, I have had no issues with the Apple Maps app. I don't use it often because I just drive to work and back but I've tested it out for fun and it works great and it finds businesses just as well as google maps. I can't tell you how many times google maps inaccurately showed a business location."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. I travel regularly but I rarely rent a car. DC, NY...I just take a cab. When I fly back home, I do rent a car but I don't need a map for home. When I'm in Utah, I don't need a map, either. I'm surprised you have any use for a map in cedar city.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostI'm surprised you don't--don't you travel a lot?

I was in DC last week and did a restaurant blitz on Sunday night using the metro, not a cab. In retrospect, I planned my route at the hotel using my iPad, not my phone. I guess I prefer the iPad for stuff like that. I don't recall a problem with the map, though. It seemed like a normal map to me.
Point is, I personally don't use maps very much. I'm puzzled why others use maps on a day to day basis unless they were living in a big city and their job required them to be in a car frequently. If the majority of your week is spent driving to and from work, errands, etc, you still use a map for that?Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

No, I don't use it a bunch in Cedar City. New address once in a while. But travelling, even in SLC? Sitting around somewhere and I'm hungry--where's a close good restaurant? Much much easier than sitting in a hotel and planning everything on an iPad ahead of time. Even when you plan stuff out, things go wrong, you can change things on the go.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostI travel regularly but I rarely rent a car. DC, NY...I just take a cab. I've never used Apple Maps before so I have no idea how good or bad it is--I'd just heard bad things about it. Apparently, up until the 5 came out, they were using Google Maps anyway so maybe there wasn't much of a difference. At least the Big Ten went after a big-time addition in Nebraska; the Pac-10 wanted a game so badly, it added Utah

This is the main reason I use apple stuff. In fact, I gave my wife an original iPhone nearly the day they came out long before I got one for myself because I was tried of her asking how to update her contact list or something her phone for her. (Long before that I got her a mac.) In fact, I recall very times that I have had to do something for her on her iPhone. I would be most likely happy with a laptop running BSD or some other open source OS but OSX is essentially BSD with a nice GUI that runs the microsoft crap apps that I need now and then.Originally posted by Moliere View PostI was converted to Apple more for the iMac than anything else.
