I read an article that explained that this is one battle Jobs might win. Youtube and other sites have already started converting their video to be played on the iPad.

Ultimately, I dont care about Flash, I just care about being able to watch the video clips.

ESPN has already done it as well which means I am able to launch fantasycast on the iPad and I don't need an app.

Yeah, my guess is Flash either cleans up their act, or most sites move to a different medium than Flash.

I figure I could run the wifi tether app on my android phone sitting in my pocket and have an internet connection anywhere. I will never suffer from a boring work/church meeting again. I just need to be careful where I sit; always pick a remote corner.
I can't really say (NDA) but personally think it is a good time to buy an iPad and, at least, one of those new MacBook Airs. If you are looking for an iPad wifi-only then check the refurbs for a $50 discount:

          http://store.apple.com/us/browse/hom...mco=OTY2ODcwMQ

          Full Apple warranty.

I have a WiFi-only iPad and use my iPhone as wifi router using "MyWi". Another option, if you want to stick it to the AT&T man, is to pop your AT&T SIM from your phone and put in the iPad. The iPad uses a micro-SIM so if your phone uses a full size SIM you can cut it down to a micro-SIM size and use a micro-SIM adapter.

Yes, Jobs doesn't care much for flash or java. Flash is a security risk and java is a "fat pig". (Yes, that is a quote from the boss.)

There is at least one 3rd party browser in the app store that supports flash, I believe. Cloud Browse. I have played with it much, however.

Our church wi-fi is visible but password protected. But the new clerk is a good friend so maybe I can bribe him.

I will probably get an Evo in November so I will have 4G tethering when I need it.
I don't think apple with add flash but check the 3rd party browsers in the app store (as mentioned above).

Our church has wi-fi and was able to get the password in exchange for helping out with some wiring problems with the LAN. The wiring contractor had punched down a connection wrong for one of the ports.

The only problem with tethering is your batteries drain fast. For road trips, however, you can just plug in the phone. The battery life on the iPad is very good.

The new OS will have multitasking, which will be nice. If you are planning on legally jailbreaking your iPad. I would recommend you do it sooner rather than later.

The only thing I like about that is the SD card slot.

Those new MacBook Airs are sweet. I am looking at one, maybe I'll wait until some of the newer models show up on the refurb list though to save some money.

                      • Apple needs to work harder pushing iPads... They only have a 95% market share.

Apple Inc. increased its market share in tablet computers to 95 percent in the third quarter, while Google Inc.’s Android operating system slipped, according to researcher Strategy Analytics.

Global tablet sales rose 26 percent from the previous period to 4.4 million units, with Apple selling 4.19 million iPads, the company said in a statement. Android’s share of the market declined to 2.3 percent from 2.9 percent.
Where are the Microsoft Windows based tablets?

iOS 4.2 went GM (Gold Master) yesterday and there is still no flash. Of course, Apple wants flash dead so why would they add flash?

                          • Another reason Apple doesn't like Flash: it's power hungry.

Much has been made of Apple’s decision to ship the new MacBook Airs without the Adobe plug-in, and in future all Macs will be made this way. In tests run by Wired.com’s sister site, Ars Technica, it turns out that having Flash installed can cut the notebooks’ battery life by one third. That’s right. Simply by not having a browser plug-in installed, the 11-inch MacBook Air gets two extra hours of battery life

I am a serial early adopter of apple products and for the first time, i'm making myself stay away from the ipad until it has a camera and thus video chat capability.

i live on the upper west side, and walk past two apple stores each day between home and work (66th and then on 5th) and have to exercise daily restraint

The upcoming release of so many Android and Windows 7 based competitors will push them along I would think.
