Apple Services May Be Worth More Than the iPhone Business, Analyst Says

Apple Stock Is on the Verge of Breaking Out

If You Purchased $100 of Apple in 2002

The incredible run of Apple stock has been well-documented along with most of the company’s history and ground-breaking products. As daunting as it may seem now, imagine what a small investment in a company like Apple several years ago would be worth today. A mere $100 investment in the company’s stock at the beginning of 2002 would have grown to more than 95 times the original investment by mid-February 2019.

Is apple actually putting out a controller like this, or are you just link-spamming again? I wouldn't expect you to advocate for some shitty third-party solution as the way to make Apple Arcade decent.

                  • Looks like the Apple Card is going to be a hit...

EXCLUSIVE DATA: iPhone users want the Apple Card — here's why its appeal could propel Apple Pay

A large segment of iPhone users find the newly unveiled Apple Card attractive, according to an informal survey of Business Insider readers from Business Insider Intelligence.

For context, the card is Apple's first proprietary card product and comes in partnership with Goldman Sachs and Mastercard. Apple Card is a fee-free, predominantly digital product housed in Apple's Wallet app and offers tiered rewards, a robust set of personal finance features, and a physical companion card.

Report highlights some of the reasons for why the Apple Card will be popular such as lack of fees, tiered rewards, etc. but misses the best feature, IMO, security and privacy. That makes this card rock.

I’d be more willing to use Apple Pay if companies actually took it. Right now I use it at Chick-fil-A and Sprouts but nowhere else I buy stuff takes it.

And at people that want a credit card because it looks cool.

If this level of interest in the Apple Card that is reported above is accurate customers will push more merchants to get Apple Pay and it will reach the critical mass to force the merchants to adopt. There is something like 86 million iPhone customers in the US (43% of the US smartphone market). Now a significant percentage (50-60% as the above survey indicates) of those iPhone owners get the Apple Card, say, in the first year then it could become more popular than American Express and Discover relatively quickly.

The tiered rewards scheme, I think, will help with the adoption. As more and more people get the Apple Card they will prefer to pay via Apple Pay because it gives 2% back (3% on apple purchases). With the physical card, which works anywhere that takes MasterCard, customers only get 1%. More Apple Card users may start eating more Chick-fil-A for that extra 1% cash back.

Besides the no fees, the features I think make the Apple Card really attractive is security and privacy: https://www.apple.com/apple-card/security-privacy/ The Apple Card (Apple Pay) is secured by custom hardware so it is tied to the device. The device use is secured by biometrics (TouchID and FaceID). The physical card doesn't have any numbers on it (the credit number and CVV are kept in the phone). The transaction history is instantly shown in your iPhone wallet. Your purchasing history isn't sold to third parties for marketing, advertising, etc.

I love that the physical card doesn't have any numbers on it. How many times have you wondered when you are at a restaurant and they take your card if someone is recording your numbers? I really like how it is done in other countries like Canada where they bring a small credit card reader out to your table and don't even touch your card. This is really the next best thing to that.

The other thing that may make the Apple Card very popular is the application process is simple and quick. It is all done on the iPhone and it can be approved immediately. Crazy easy.

                            • Wait a minute. The 2% is only when the merchant takes Apple Pay? Boo.

I already have a mastercard (linked to apply pay) that pays 2% on everything.

Don't worry. If the Apple Card is as popular as I think it will be then merchants that don't take Apple Pay now will soon take Apple Pay... or be out of business. Did I mention that the Apple Card has no fees?
