I don't think the brand matters much, but steer clear of the fads. You just need a traditional cut in an old-school stonewashed or darkwashed rinse denim.

I'd probably go with original Levis if I were you. If you're looking to unload a bunch of bucks, Levi's has an upscale line, now, too.

Donut would probably have you rocking 24" Jncos. Don't forget the pooka shell necklace!

Stay away from anything too flashy on the back pocket. A subtle embroidered design is ok, but nothing too attention-grabbing.

I like Babs' recommendation of Levi's, but I say stay away from the men's section (frumpy) and head for the young men's section. They usually offer some very traditional cuts, but with much better colors. (Kohl's is the place coming to mind right now, though I'm sure it's the same way at Penney's or wherever).

Kohl's Brand (Urban Pipeline) has some decent looking relaxed-fit, straight-leg jeans for really cheap, but they are a definite step down in quality.

My primary recommendation, though, would be H&M. They are a European-style clothing company, so they definitely have some stuff that is "too hip" for the middle-aged crowd. That said, their jeans come in some great colors and cuts, and I'm almost positive you'd find a nice pair that wouldn't look like you were trying too hard. Maybe a few bucks more than Levi's (H&M jeans run about $45-55) but well worth it IMO.

I love the Levis website because you can search by fit and see all the color options at once. I don't wear Levi's, because I don't like their cuts for women, but I use their website to order for Flash. They've got great customer service, too.

lol. We'll get AV in a pair of black-washed low-cut skinny jeans with the giant sequined gold apple on the rear.

I just want some freaking credit for knowing the names of two brands off the top of the noggin.

Art, I would go to Martin + Osa or Banana. None of those jeans would get you in trouble, and none of them would make you look you're too young. I also like Gap jeans.

Nothing fancy about any of these brands, but that's the point. Whenever I see a dude with eye-catching jeans, I usually shake my head. He's also likely to be sporting an Ed Hardy or ROAR shirt.

I was pretty good about knowing, and even owning most of the previously mentioned brands (apple bottom I know from that insidious song, but don't own). However, I have never heard of any of those, where are they found?

M&O is essentially the same idea as H&M, but twice as much (for something of equal quality with slightly worse styling).

I hate the way Banana's pants fit, so I wouldn't even consider them for myself. I love their dress shirts, though. Just wish the sleeves were a half-inch longer.
