I love the exclamation point. It is like putting the dagger in, but then leaning in on it to drive it just a wee bit further...Originally posted by YOhio View PostI mix it up on occassion, but usually go with lol!. I like the exclamation point. It's kind of like a back slap after the laugh.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

for the record, I am not typing the letters l.o.l.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostI think 3D has made lol the new fashion. Am I correct? Lol anyone?
I am typing an emoticon....it is basically like a Touchdown Jesus sort of thing. Or a referee signaling a touchdown. The head with two arms in the air.
If I read something and it makes me laugh, I will type lol, as if to say, "nice...you totally scored with that one!"Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

But sometimes lol/LOL/lol! is a compliment and sometimes it's ridiculing. Like the old laughing with me/at me dichotomy. Shall we do them differently for different types of laughs? When a true genius appears, you can know him by this sign: that all the dunces are in a confederacy against him.

People use lol as a form of ridicule now? I'm beginning to think that my mother was right when she would tell me that sarcasm is the lowest form of humor.Originally posted by SeattleUte View PostBut sometimes lol/LOL/lol! is a compliment and sometimes it's ridiculing. But you have to admit that the period, rather than an exclamation point, following DDD's lol was a nice touch. It turns what might have been an enthusiastic and mirthful lol into a deadpan monotone expressed by BRM at 3 in the morning.Originally posted by SeattleUte View Post

I prefer |o|. The delimiter is a pipe/vertical bar (|). Remember, it is not a lower case L (l).Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss
There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

lol. if I laugh hard enough, I use, /o/, as if to say "I about fell over laughing at what you just typed!"Originally posted by Donuthole View PostI prefer |o|. The delimiter is a pipe/vertical bar (|). Remember, it is not a lower case L (l).
Obviously, \o\ is also acceptable, depending on which way one falls while laughing.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.
