  • How much do you pay for Directv?

I have direct with a single HD-DVR receiver, the HD package with the sports package. I don't have HBO, Showtime, or any other premium channels. Now that FB is over I may turn this TV on once a week (the TV in the playroom and bedroom have cable). I'm currently paying $84.98/month which seems ridiculous. I plan to call and downgrade my service but want to know what price I should try and negotiate for if they start offering me something to stay connected.

How can you possibly be paying that much?! When did you get the service?

2 years ago...I know I've waited this long to do something about it, but I always forget to call since it is direct debit.

Their rate increases have been well above inflation. In 1995, the NFL Sunday Ticket was $159, now it's $299.

More if you want Superfan to get the games in HD.

              Are they HD receivers?

I'm looking for the cheapest package with 2 HD DVRs.

Nope, just one regular receiver and one DVR. It's very annoying.

I was looking at Verizon just today. About 5 years ago they announced they would be entering the Las Vegas market... but they never did. Jerks.

$80/month w/ sports pack, 1 non-HD DVR, additional receiver, and a laundry list of complaints.

                        I pay 165.00 a month.

                        2 HD DVR's, 1 HD Receiver.

Top of the line package, sports pack, HBO/Cinemax/Showtime.

When the football season is around that thing goes up to about 220.00 a month for 6 months. It was a complete waste this year though. I probably watched 3 games total on football.

I would drop HBO, but I love Big Love.

I am looking to upgrade recievers to the HD-DVR. Is there are way to get them to do that for free? No way am I paying 200 for the stupid thing.

I installed a HDTV this week so I am looking to joing the big kids club. That and finally getting high speed internet in August. It was a big year for the bigpiney household.

Good luck with that. Here is the stupid part:

This summer, when we put a HDTV in the office for the wife, I went to Best Buy and paid 199 for a new HD DVR Receiver.

Did you know that even though you bought it, that you don't own it? If I cancel my acct. I have to send that one back also.
