I can't keep my kids off my computer. My oldest mostly just googles pokemon and mario and finds games to play or pictures to draw. My middle clicks everywhere and my youngest gets up and pounds the keyboard. So when I hop on, I often find strange windows open or that my settings are changed. Most recently, my clock is an hour slow. I checked the settings and it says it is Central Time. Why the heck is it an hour off then? Any ideas what could be going on? It's screwed me up two nights in a row.

Kids on your computer
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

Double click on the date/time in the bottom right hand of your screen. That will bring up the Date and Time Properties window. Select the Time Zone screen, verify the correct time zone is selected and ensure that your "Automatically adjust clock...." box is checked.

That was the first thing I did and it says it is on Central Time (which is my time zone).Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostDouble click on the date/time in the bottom right hand of your screen. What else could it be?

FWIW, we have two computers in our house. One for the parents and one for the kids. The new computer is for the parents and houses all the important stuff. The kids computer is usually the older one that we replaced but it generally fast enough to handle the web and other games they like to play. We password protect the parents computer so they can't play on it (plus they aren't allowed to even touch it and if they do, well let's not go there). We also password protect the admin account on their computer and give them very little rights so they can't mess it up too bad or download anthing.
Seems to work real well."Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

Thanks. I manually changed it. I can't find the daylight savings box that Indy was referring to.Originally posted by Eddie Jones View PostManually change the time to the correct time.

We have two laptops: mine and danimal's. Mine is the one that is always on and out because I am always home. Danimal's is put away. My computer is password protected but I am on and off of it all day long so they have plenty of opportunities to hop on and do damage. Danimal says I should lock it every time I walk away, and I should but I forget to.
When we let them on the computer they get on his since mine is newer and houses my work and these days his is pretty much just for checking CUF and email. What's to explain? Seems to work real well. There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

Ha, it might include leather belts and bare butt cheeks but I won't confirm nor deny for fear of child protection hunting me down.Originally posted by landpoke View PostWhat happens? Do you follow the Code of Hammurabi in your house or something?
It's not so much the computer although we forked down some good cash for it and love the computer. The room we keep the computer in has some nice furniture and breakable things as well as memorabilia so we try to keep all kid traffic out of that room to the extent possible."Discipleship is not a spectator sport.
