I'm about a 44 Regular, which means that anything off the rack comes with a 38 inch waste, while I'm a 34. That is a bit too much tailoring to feel comfortable about. Ultimately, I decided to go with HM Cole in downtown SLC. They take all the measurements, and hand cut at their own factory. For a basic 100% wool suit with all the details DDD listed early in this thread (half canvas, functional buttons on cuffs, etc.) it was about $700 per suit. That was about what I would have paid at Dillards for a Hart Schaffner and Marx suit off the rack (with a 38 inch waste). The downside is I have to wait about 4 weeks for them. So I guess I'll rock the old suit for a few weeks.

sorry about the suit thing. that seriously sucks. but congrats on the calling - being a counselor is pretty fun as church callings are concerned.

Ha yes. Not a bad humblebrag.

I don’t see it that way. Everyone in the ward keeps saying congratulations, when they should be saying condolences.

Is the humblebrag the Bishop thing or the 44 Regular with a 34" waist thing?

            • Good luck chrisrenrut. Wearing a suit to church sucks. I haven't worn one for at least five years. We now have a "no tie" group in our ward as well. They are small, but persuasive. I'm almost ready to join them but I don't think MJ will allow it.

I haven't worn any of my suits since I outgrew them years ago. They're still in my closet, just gathering dust. If I ever lose enough weight, I might get them dry cleaned and wear them again.

I had to literally dust off my suit last Sunday. A significant layer on the shoulders. It's been a while since the last funeral I had to attend. In fact, I found my grandfather's funeral program in one of the pockets.

One of our SP referred to it as ‘congrolences’.

I’m sympathetic to this position but I look too good in a suit to join.
