The garage door wall unit works but the remote controls don't. Is the wall unit hardwired into to garage opener, or is it wireless too? If the wall unit is wireless, then I reckon all I need to do is get new remotes?

Do you have to hold the wall unit down until it closes? If so, you need to adjust your sensors at the door. One of them is out of alignment by a hair. Some wall units are wireless, but for new home construction, most are hardwired. Before you buy new remotes, try replacing the batteries and then reprogram them to the opener.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostThe garage door wall unit works but the remote controls don't. No, I just push the wall unit once and it closes. Our door opener is probably original with the house and is around 20 years old. We've replaced the batteries to our two remotes to no avail. Most are hardwired. You should see a wire coming out of the wall pad to the garage door opener. But regardless you can pick up additional remotes at any home improvement store to program to your garage door opener.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostThe garage door wall unit works but the remote controls don't. Usually the wall unit is hardwired. I'm guessing your remotes need to be reprogrammed. This is a very simple thing to do but it requires you to probably open up the light case on the unit and push a couple buttons to get it done. Should be able to find instructions/user manual online if you don't have it filed somewhere.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostThe garage door wall unit works but the remote controls don't. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. I'm just wondering if the wall unit is hardwired if the problem is necessarily the remotes as opposed to the "receiver" on the opener itself. Our opener is so old I doubt we'll find a user manual online, but I can check.

Most have instructions on the back of the garage door unit itself with a reset and program button. Typically you reset it, push the program button which will start flashing then you press the garage door remote and hold it down until the program stops flashing and that is it. However, it may vary depending on the unit itself. Some older units I know actually have a PIN and you must move dials like a combo lock inside the remote itself.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostNo, I just push the wall unit once and it closes. In HS a buddy of mine discovered this and wondered if the builder of his new subdivision was lazy and just added a number to each home in succession on his street. Sure enough they had. His home was 234, the neighbor's 235, and so on. It scares me to think what he may have done with this information but we did have some fun sitting in his home with his garage door opener and be able to open a door that his neighbor was closing as he was pulling out of the driveway."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

If something is hardwired and is working but the wireless remotes aren't, I am pretty sure it's the remotes. I am sure they just need to be reprogrammed. Lots of times the manual is taped to the top of the garage door opener itself if you can't find it online. But really they haven't changed in 20 years so I am sure you'll be able to find something to get the issue resolved.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostI'm just wondering if the wall unit is hardwired if the problem is necessarily the remotes as opposed to the "receiver" on the opener itself. I have never lived in a home with a garage. I just realized this fact. Wow."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

I'm not sure I understand why people have waited up until now to do so.Originally posted by TheBYUGuy View PostI am waiting for this to show up as someone's signature.
