  • Renting a car then dropping off in a different city

I am flying down to the Rose Bowl then driving to Las Vegas to meet ldc for the weekend. Any suggestions, I know some rental companies frown on this.

You'll pay a premium, but check around. It may not be that bad.

I did this just last month. The total cost isn't really that bad if you can keep it below ninety and avoid the state troopers on I-35.

Alamo had the best fares for one-way rental. Several of the others wouldn't even allow it.

One way rentals can be expensive. But typically it's when you're dropping the car off at a smaller market. LA to Vegas shouldn't be much of an issue.

Looks like it's going to be over a hundred a day for unlimited miles. Hopefully you don't need it very long!

I did this with Budget from Atlanta to NOLA after Katrina, and it was about the same as a normal rental.

I rented with Dollar in Washington DC and dropped off in Baltimore. The surcharge was only $17 for a 5 day rental.

Why not fly to Vegas? It seems like you could find a flight in the same cost ballpark as renting a car.

Not a bad thought. I'll need a car for the two days I am in So Cal, but don't need one in Vegas. Worth looking into, thanks.
