I has lasik in 2001, and like Walt, the prescription has drifted. I asked the doc a year or so ago whether I could/should have a touch-up to get back to 20/20, but she said that if I did, I'd need reading glasses right away, which I don't now. So I'm wearing glasses to drive and at the theater and go without otherwise.

Likewise... difficulty seeing distant objects. I use my glasses in the same situations you do... driving at night and at the theater.Originally posted by mtnbiker View PostI has lasik in 2001, and like Walt, the prescription has drifted. Last time I tried to go to the Seattle temple you didn't even give me a heads up it was closed. Do prayers from the parking lot count?Originally posted by Walter Sobchak View Post

This is exactly the conclusion I reached (and my eye doctor echoed) when I looked into it. I was over 40 at the time and so I didn't do it. But I have helped the problem by using the two different prescription contacts solution. It has been amazing. No reading glasses. It's great.Originally posted by Walter Sobchak View Post

One of the techs at the Lasik place here got one eye lasik'd to a reading prescription and the other regular sight. Your brain adjusts, reportedly, and it is nice."I'm anti, can't no government handle a commando / Your man don't want it, Trump's a bitch! I'll make his whole brand go under,"

That's the monovision correction I referred to earlier. They can do this to varying degrees. Mine was a slight monovision correction and has worked very well.Originally posted by Commando View PostOne of the techs at the Lasik place here got one eye lasik'd to a reading prescription and the other regular sight. LASIK
The same thing commando described except with contacts. One contact adjusted for distant vision and the other for close in correction.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostTell us more about this solution.
I have very bad vision and have worn contacts for years. When j was about 51 or 52 I had to wear reading glasses all the time. I hated it. My doc suggested the mono vision approach. I was skeptical but tried. It has been like a revelation. I never even think about it. My brain instantly melds the two fields of vision together. Seamless. It only fails for me in dim lighting when I am trying to read. Like a restaurant. Otherwise. A great solution. No reading glasses.Last edited by creekster; 01-08-2016, 09:44 PM.PLesa excuse the tpyos.

This has been on my mind the last few days since this thread was bumped and some frustrating contact/glasses experiences have pushed me over the edge. I'm in. I just need to find the right place now.
Luckily with my daughter being born, my benefits enrollment opened back up and I can put some money in my med Flex spending account. I'll likely have to specify the amount before I choose a surgeon though. Any updated guesses on cost?

$1,000.00 per eye is about the usual depending on your locale. Phoenix probably has a larger than average pool of medical resources at its disposal so maybe a bit more elsewhere. I found a good place online via reviews, reputation, etc. and then found a Groupon.Originally posted by Omaha 680 View PostThis has been on my mind the last few days since this thread was bumped and some frustrating contact/glasses experiences have pushed me over the edge.
