I can't find anything. And they screwed with the way I always do stuff paste special/values only to clear out pivot tables for emailing large files.
Excel 2007 is killing me

Hang in there. It bugged me for a few weeks but I prefer it now."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Excel 2007 interface sucks. I bypass most of it by using the same keyboard shortcuts that worked for Excel 2003 and earlier.

WORD 2007 is the same way for me. Apparently, the 2007 programs are intended for future generations who have never learned the old way. I like 90% of the changes.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostHang in there. There are new/improved features in Excel 2007 that I enjoy, but I really dislike the interface.
The 1,000,000+ rows is a Godsend.

I have a friend who programs for Microsoft. They did extensive testing with users and found that the new design was superior in terms of usability and efficiency. They knew that there would be some initial resistance but were confident that the design would pay off in the long run."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? it took me 6 months to get used to it and I still hate it. I don't know why they changed the location of everything. It really really pisses off everyone I have talked to that grew up with the old menus.Originally posted by jay santos View PostI can't find anything. riiiiight...just like vista's security features would pay off in the long run. I think they pissed off the majority of their core users.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostI have a friend who programs for Microsoft. It would interesting to see how it is panning out in the overall market. Like I said, I prefer the new interface. Most people I know warm to it eventually.Originally posted by Flystripper View Postriiiiight...just like vista's security features would pay off in the long run. Did you ever switch to that keyboard that doesn't have all the letters? I was just wondering about that the other day.Originally posted by Indy Coug View PostExcel 2007 interface sucks. Yeah I think given long enough people will get used to it. The long time users will make do. I actually use Excel less today than I did during my first five years out of school, which is why it took me longer to get used to it.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostIt would interesting to see how it is panning out in the overall market. All of the people I supervised that were less than 2 years out of college loved the new Excel. All of the people that I supervised that had more than 2 years of experience hated it. When I say all, I mean all. The more experienced users eventually got used used to it, but they still complained about it all the time. It did hurt their productivity. Analysis took longer than it used to take.
Honestly most of my angst stems from an experience I had when preparing some charts for a mediation presentation. The staff person that was assisting me got sick before they could finalize some minor aesthetic changes so I told them I could finish it up and had them go home. I did not realize how different the chart making interface was in Excel 07. It took me a couple of hours to do what would have previously taken me 20 minutes with the old interface. I am still bitter.Dyslexics are teople poo...
