The things my spouse shouldn't have said to me thread

I really can't think of anything. She's pretty good like that.

    Any stories?

Don't come home 'a drinking with loving on your mind.
There's no such thing as luck, only drunken invincibility. Make it happen.

Oh right. Because complaining about your spouse on a public internet forum is one of those things you really shouldn't do.

I'm guessing that Indy is saying that he and his wife were rock climbing and she foiled his plans to collect life insurance payoff by noticing that he had failed to inspect her equipment.

Last night my wife expressed disbeleif that the church would support the non-discrimination ordinance that passed yesterday. She is a sweet but sheltered woman. She is very much opposed to homosexuality mostly out of ignorance, because she hasn't been around people that are homosexual, or so she thinks. She does work at a jail where she sees some of the worst examples of homosexuals.

I discussed with her that the church understands what is at stake and that while we beleive homosexuality is morally wrong, those that are homosexual are still God's children, etc.

What I couldn't tell her is that her is that her own daughter is in a lesbian relationship (my step daughter). It's not my place to out her to the family, I had suspected for a while and confirmed my suspicions a couple of years ago by accident.

I wish she hadn't brought it up because it makes me feel mildly dishonest to have this secret from her.

Honestly, I don't see this ending well for you. Once your wife finds out (and she will likely find out) and if she then subsequently blows her stack (which seems likely since you haven't told her by now), then your step-daughter will assuredly state something like "But [chrisrenrut] knew the whole time!" At which time, you'll be screwed. Better to get it out in the open I would think, as difficult as it may be.

                            Good luck man.

                            cheers.
My step-daughter doesn't know that I know. If or when it comes out, I'll say I'm not surprised because I suspected it for some time (not a complete lie, just a half truth).

I don't think it's a phase, she her partner are "roommates", and have lived together for the past 3 years in Las Vegas. She has brought her "roommate" home a few times, and my wife keeps asking me to set her up with my single brother. It's awkward for everyone involved except my wife who is blissfully ignorant.

What you need to do is set up some kind of You've Got Mail-like scenario in which you spend considerable time convincing your wife of how much she loves her daughter, no matter what the daughter does. I would think that if your wife is more conscious of how much she loves her daughter, she'll be more willing to accept the inevitable announcement that is likely going to happen in the near future.
