    The miracle of life.

Setting- Late September, shortly before my birthday coming up on October 1.

    CMBF sitting in his office

CMBF thinking to himself: I'm turning 33 and I want to have a second kid before I turn 34.

    Later that night at home

CMBF to A4OF (All 4 One Fan, wife of CMBF): "If you want, you can stop taking the birth control."

A4OF overjoyed: "Really, why the change of mind?"

CMBF: "I was thinking it would be cool to have a second kid before I turn 34."

A4OF stops taking the birth control immediately

CMBF and A4OF are in a hotel suite in Vegas on Sunday morning, October 25, 2009. It's 6:30 AM. JBF (Jonas Brothers fan, even though she doesn't know it yet), 21 month-old daughter of CMBF and A4OF, is still asleep. A4OF's parents are sleeping in the other room of the suite

A4OF: Let's go to that Albertsons down the road and pick up a pregnancy test, my period should have started either yesterday or today.

CMBF thinking to himself: Oh shit, already? You've got to be kidding me.

CMBF to A4OF: Okay let's go, if JBF wakes up, I guess your mother will grab her.

Albertsons on Green Valley Pkwy and Sunset, 6:50 AM

CMBF: Don't they sell those damn things at the dollar store?

A4OF: Yes, but they're not entirely accurate this early on.

CMBF: Why are they behind lock and key? Are people in Vegas, of all places, really that squeemish about taking these things up the cash register?

Albertsons worker walks over and unlocks the case. A4OF grabs the pregnancy test and playfully looks over at CMBF and points at the Trojan Magnum XLs as if to say "you're not going to have to use these for awhile." CMBF notes with pride that she's not pointing at any of the other normal-sized condoms. CMBF doesn't know that he can relate with Lars from Lars and the Real Girl

A4OF: I didn't bring my wallet, you're going to have to bring this up to the register.

CMBF, looking like a combination of Dexter at a social gathering and the cat who swallowed the canary, dutifully brings the pregnany test up to the register

Back in the hotel suite, A4OF has just come out of the bathroom and announces that she's pregnant

A4OF: ...see, look at the blue line in the second window.

CMBF: That's pretty faint, are you sure?

A4OF: These things will sometimes produce a false negative, but never a false positive. Remember, you also asked the same thing with JBF.

CMBF putting on a happy face: Well, it's great news but, wow, that was quick.

Other happy emotions are conveyed and CMBF is thinking "what no grace period between going off the birth control in late September and now?"

A4OF: I don't want to tell anyone about this. Let's wait for at least a couple months, it makes things go a lot slower

    Two days later

A4OF: Well, my mom's really excited with the news as well as my sisters, dad, best friend and grandparents.

In the background JBF repeatedly mumbles "good girl" as she climbs up on the counter height table and chairs after CMBF has told her to get down 10+ straight times. She's oblivious to the meaning of "good girl" and thinks it's a game. CMBF laments the purchase of the counter height table and chairs. CMBF punishes JBF by tossing her on the pillows on the bed, one of JBF's favorite activities. JBF has no clue that things are going to change dramatically for her.

Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

    Congratulations!

I always go to Smiths when I'm buying something "sensitive." Albertsons doesn't have the self-checkout machines.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

You should be proud to buy those things. They are proof that you have a woman at home.

I have no problem buying condoms, pads, monistat, or anything of the sort. What I can't bring myself to do is go to victorias secret and buy a pair of sexy underwear for my wife (garments are the biggest turnoff known to man). I just can't get over the idea that people will be looking at me thinking, "what a perv, get your hands off that thong". I won't go online for this stuff. Supposedly simplysweetmarriage.com is approved by my wife.

Anybody else have these same problems? Or, should I walk in with pride and say, "this is for my 10 cow woman".

Congrats CMBF. I can say that your story(zero gap between stopping pills and baby) is very common.

Congrats on the pending new arrival.

That scenerio is kind of what happened to us at about the same age ( I was 33 )

I may be small, but I'm slow.

Why all the congrats? I think the dude is pissed that he didn't get at least one month of "test negative" bliss.

One other important detail, we signed up for supplemental insurance through AFLAC and it is effective September 30, 2009. This means we would get a cash payout from AFLAC for around $3k if a baby is delivered after July 30, 2010. I'm clueless about these things but I remembered that it took a month for my wife's system to return to normal coming off the birth control when JBF was conceived. No such luck this time, the baby's due date is July 4. Luckily, we've only paid $100 of premiums and I can cancel the policy.
