    Post your public restroom gripes

When tearing off more than one square of TP is next to impossible because the roll was installed wrong/crooked.

When the hand soap is empty.

When a closed stall door still leaves a 1" gap between the door and the side, and people piss all over the seat.

I have to use a "greenhouse" at work, where I am for 6 days a week. Nothing beats using a porta-potty at a construction site of 250+. The seat is cold in the winter, the sauna effect in the summer is nauseating, and blue balls is a whole new meaning.

I always hated the drinking fountain near the 1L carrels in the HHLL. Whenever the toilet would flush in the nearby bathroom, the drinking fountain pressure would lower. The mental assocation of the two was just, well, kinda gross.

-Configuration of adjacent men's and women's b-rooms with a wall that isn't very thick. If you aren't careful in your choice of stalls, you realize that the stall you're sitting in is right next to a stall in the ladies room. And then you are reminded quickly about your error when a woman sits in that adjacent stall and, well yeah...

-People brushing their teeth in the restroom. No it doesn't affect me personally, but do people just have no sense of how nasty it is to move your hand between your toothbrush and that public bathroom sink?

EDIT: Also, the bathroom stall is no place for you to be working on your Blackberry or shuffling documents.

                  This thread is disgusting.

Reading it reconfirms my commitment to avoiding public restrooms at almost all costs.

I hate it when I use a restroom in a public park, at night, and someone has unscrewed the light bulbs and it is completely dark, so I sit and start my business and my eyes slowly adjust to the dark, and then someone opens the door and the ambient light reveals that there is someone standing in the corner with a pair of night vision goggles watching me, so I get up and start preparing to leave only to discover that there was poo all over the toilet seat and it is now on my legs, and my pant cuffs have been soaking in urine.

Other than that, I have no problem with public restrooms.

I've always been curious where you urinate at work. Or do you just never drink anything during the day?

A 2L bottle under the desk will easily hold a day's worth of urine for a non-coffee drinker.

I would be willing to give up a lot of things in my life, before I ever give up having my own private restroom at work. It truly is one of best things of owning your own business.

Just last Saturday I was on campus and remembering how I would only use specific restrooms when I attended the Y. I preferred the ones on the upper floors of the MSB or SWKT buildings. I always avoided anything in the Wilk, RB or SFH. Generally: more remote=less vile outhouse.

I don't have a problem doing number 1 at work or at almost any non-port-o-potty public bathroom.

As for the other item- I avoid it at all costs in any work or public restroom.

For some reason, it seemed like no one else at the law school had an issue with taking numerous He-Man turds at that one frequently used main bathroom in the middle of the carrels. That bathroom was not out of the way, it was in the middle of everything. And it also seemed that law students had more loud bowel movements than any other group of people. I would wash my hands and then haul ass out of the bathroom due to the smell and not having to see who unleashed the latest bomb.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”
