    Something-we-don't-know-about-you game

For our department Christmas party, I had to detail something I think no one knows about me on a slip of paper for our party game--I'd complain about dumb party games, but I'm not going to volunteer to organize the annual event in the future.

What do you all put in similar circumstances?

I think I'll go with "I once was interviewed on the radio for my prodigious dodgeball talent."

    It sucks being dull.

Make something up. You used to be a man. That should spice things up.

I happened to check with my secretary. "Used to be a man" is already taken. Seriously.

Say you once killed a man in Reno, just to watch him die. Do it with a straight face.

You ripped his heart out of his chest and shoved it in his face so he could see how black it was before he died.

I tell people I was once arrested, cuffed, thrown in the back of a squad car, and taken to the police station for booking.

            Usually throws everyone off.

Write down that you're a pathological liar.

It may or may not be the truth.

Was this the arrest that happened during law school?

My mom planned this activity for the Enrichment night in her ward. She gathered all the info from the women and then put together a game where you guess who's juicy tidbit belongs to who. Anyway, my mom thought that some of the responses were too boring (I used to run a dry cleaners, my first job was in a bank, etc.) and so she called me the other day and asked me if it would be too rude to call a few of the women back and ask them if they had something more interesting to contribute.

Yes Mom. Call them back and tell them they've led very boring lives. No one's feelings will be hurt.
What's to explain? It's a bunch of people, most of whom you've never met, who are just as likely to be homicidal maniacs as they are to be normal everyday people, with whom you share the minutiae of your everyday life. It's totally normal, and everyone would understand.

I've had to play a variant of that game - you write down two statements about yourself, one truth and one lie. The others in the group have to guess which is which.

I usually put down that I've been pulled over by the police more than 20 times.

It was while playing this game about a year ago that I finally told my wife that 14 years before, when our first child was a newborn, I had left him with a complete stranger for an entire afternoon, completely away from my view or supervision.

Turns out 14 years was not long enough. I would stick with "I used to run a dry cleaners".

I played a similar game but their were questions that were read that we had to answer and then someone had to guess who submitted which answer.

Anyway, the game is going well and occasionally funny until the question turns to, "What is the worst thing you have ever done?"

The game got pretty awkward when someone read "Having sex with someone I didn't love."

This was a group of LDS singles.
