Does anyone else have a spouse or a family member...

who leaves out vital bits of information that are pertinent to what they're talking about when they tell you something? This the phone call I got a few minutes ago from my wife:

wife: "It's going to be a while before I get home. Will you start dinner?"

me: "Sure. Are you stuck in traffic?"

wife: "Yes. And it's probably going to be a while because the ambulance isn't here yet."

me: "What? Ambulance? Are you and (the oldest daughter) ok? What happened?"

wife: "A car was speeding up the road and hit the van when it pulled out of the parking lot at the high school."

me: "I'll be down there in just a few minutes. I want to be there to make you sure you two are ok. Are you hurt?"

wife: "Why would I be hurt?"

me: "You just said that a car hit the van when you were pulling out of the parking lot at the high school."

wife: "What? It was the van in front of us that got hit. Stay home and start dinner."

me: "You didn't say it was a van in front... Ok. I'm glad you two are ok. I'll start dinner."

Guilty as charged. I also start stories and never finish them. I annoy myself.

I could have this exact conversation with my wife any day of the week. When you start asking follow up questions to make sure you understand what she's saying, does she get upset and accuse you of not listening? Ugh.
Ain't it like most people, I'm no different. We love to talk on things we don't know about.

        Maybe this qualifies:

Day before Labor Day, my sister sends an email saying they are going to the 1pm Harry Potter at the theater by mom's house (Jordan Landing), with all the nieces, nephew, the whole clan. I reply saying sure, I'll go.

The next morning I get a text saying they changed to the 3pm show. I reply, that's fine.

I show up a little before 3, don't see them. Wait. Call sis, she says they're there and where am I?

Turns out, when they switched from 1 to 3, they also switched to a different theater, and somehow I ended up being the idiot boy; e.g. "why didn't you get online to see which theater was showing it at 3?"

...and the rest of your family. You are the worst to talk to one phone and get a full story of anything. I think you get it from your momma.

All the time. She also denies saying the confusing things she says, which is why this evening I just decided to not argue and start dinner.

The one thing of which I'm guilty is that my wife will ask me a question and the answer I give her is what I'm thinking about. It irritates her to no end.

I don't understand. She'll ask you whether you had the oil changed, and you'll respond: "Spaghetti"? (that's an example).

Pretty much so. She'll ask if I got the oil changed and I'll respond with "I need to call so-and-so to make sure that they backup their files before I get there tomorrow."

My wife does this all the time too. She will be telling me a story about how she went to the Zoo today with my cousin to see all the baby animals and while on the way to the Zoo

Once while praying with my wife I paused to collect my thoughts. They were so deep that I got lost. A few minutes later she interrupted and asked me if I was done. Can you believe it? The nerve!

I wasn't sleeping. I was meditating while praying, I can see how you would easily be confused between the two.

My wife will pull the "Crap gotta go" in her somethings wrong voice as she hangs up on me. I will wait worrying for her return call hoping she wasnt in a car accident or something is serious wrong. Then I will call back several times and no answer. Four hours later she will call me just to talk, I ask her what happened earlier and either she wont remember or she will say something like "I just forgot to put soap in the dishwasher".

I'm sorry, what was that? I dozed off during the hour or so it took you to respond.

My wife will do that too. Except she usually says something like "[Daughter's name]!!!!" click. I'll find out later that she spilled water on the ground.
