I'm happy to report that a Festivus pole is once again prominently displayed in our lobby. No Christmas tree, Hannukah menorah, or Kwanzaa display to accompany it, however. Do your offices typically decorate for the holidays?

Our office has no official policy, but many people display holiday stuff in their office. Our reception lobby has a deocrated christmas tree.Originally posted by beelzebabette View PostI'm happy to report that a Festivus pole is once again prominently displayed in our lobby. The receptionist put up this rad shrine of Judaism on her side table. It has a few menorahs, dreidels of all sizes, and even a blue and white hackey sack with a star of david on it. One of her menorahs flashes when plugged in.
We also have a very large Asian contingency in our LA office, so this is really the start of the New Year festivities. December is the time for the office Christians to celebrate. The vietnamese folks put up their stuff in february, I think. And the Chinese folks are around that time, too. When Chinese new year comes around, several of the Chinese people bring in awesome food, cakes, and traditional desserts for everyone to try.
There is one guy on my floor that is from Australia. He always jokingly tries to get everyone fired up about Boxing Day, but nobody ever cares. He knows that nobody cares, but he jokes that everyone else has all the decorations up, so he makes a sign that says Happy Boxing Day on it.
this was a long post to have contained almost nothing worthwhile. sorry.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

Is Boxing Day something special in England too? I thought it was just a Canadian thing.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostOur office has no official policy, but many people display holiday stuff in their office. Our reception lobby has a deocrated christmas tree.

Not sure. I know for sure they celebrate it in Oz, as I was down there for Christmas one year. there wasn't much to "celebrate." It is simply an observed holiday.Originally posted by ERCougar View PostIs Boxing Day something special in England too? I thought it was just a Canadian thing.Fitter. Happier. More Productive.

It is a serious celebration in Canada, similar to Black Friday in the US.Originally posted by TripletDaddy View PostNot sure. I know for sure they celebrate it in Oz, as I was down there for Christmas one year. there wasn't much to "celebrate." It is simply an observed holiday.
Happy Boxing Day Sales, everyone.
