  • Quite an interesting Hour

That I just spent reading the entire Town Hall and Ellis Island. I felt that I was reading the details of a nasty separation and was lurking into some of the details. I was unaware of the history of this board. Heck, I didn't know what CG was until reading posts on this board. Lets just say that certain posts and posters make much more sense now.

I came here on a lark(and invitation from DrumNFeather), and I am glad that I did. I am fairly new to internet chat boards, but have active accounts on uf.net, CB, Utah.rivals. When I came here, I was expecting another sports board that was populated by more moderate(read less hateful) members of each side of the primary rivalry. What I found was a vibrant community with a full range of things to discuss.

I have appreciated the ability to post things that are quite personal about myself and my life to date without a backlash of derogatory comments. This makes me feel welcome here and more open to express my feelings and ideas about topics that would have never considered discussing with strangers in cyberspace.

I want thank those who make this board(both the members and committee) successful. I hope that my contributions here are appreciated and welcomed.

Stop kissing-up. It's unbecoming of a doctor. Now, I've got this rash.....and if I send you a photo, could you tell if it looks like keratoderma blenorrhagica?

In all seriousness, you are most welcome here. I think you fit in like one-a-them square pegs.

I had nothing to do with the creation of the board, but I agree with everything you said. Except about YOhio who no matter how hard I try won't be nice to me.

Will this board ever overcome the sordid circumstances of its birth? It is like Agamemnon who paid for strong winds toward Troy with sweet innocent Ephigenia's blood. I fear the fates' retribution.

Being singled out makes me purr. RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!

                  It's quite simple:

wuapinmon. "What is happening, mon?" Said in a Limonense-patois accent. (woo-ah-peen-MON) Mekatelyu-it, mon?

We probably need a blood atonement of some kind.

Thank you for the explanatory simile. I was having trouble understanding your initial question until I read the subsequent Agamemnon example.

I get to play Brigham Young if we create a Broadway musical about it. Which obviously would have a hidden transgender agenda.

It is probably worth noting that the evolution from CG to CUF was not really all that bitter and sordid. Pretty much all but 4 regular posters migrated over here permanently (mikewaters, archaea, cali coug, tex...any others?).

And of the few holdouts, not only are all welcome and wanted, but direct overtures have been made to invite them here.

Come to think of it, I am not sure how welcome and wanted "Tex" is. Sorry, Tex!

Don't be melodramatic, SU. MikeWaters was a benevolent tyrant, and called himself as much. At its best CG was a great party hosted at Mike's place. He considered himself the host of the party, but he also made it clear that he could bring down the curtains whenever and however he pleased. When he started sending mixed signals, some folks decided that the party should continue at a different venue, where the 'guests' could take responsibility for the character and quality of the party. Mike hosted a nice party where some people met and became friends. Their relationships were not defined by the party, nor should they be limited to that venue.

Mike has obviously decided that he is invested in his party more than his relationships with his guests. That isn't a surprise to me, since I had already learned this about Mike. Relationships are only valuable to Mike as long as they are scratching a particular itch on his terms. The people here weren't his friends. They were party decorations.

And that is a FAR more accurate metaphor for Cougar Guard and the transition to CUF. CG was a party, not a freaking sacrificial alter.
