It’s been a crazy 3 months at work, and I haven’t taken a single day of my PTO this year yet. So I finally convinced the wife to leave her self-quarantine and take a trip. We wanted to go somewhere a bit out. Of the way, not too crowded, and within driving distance. After considering McCall, Pend O’Reille, or Driggs, ID, North Lake Tahoe, we finally settled on Bend, Oregon.
I found a cabin in Sunriver, just south of Bend on VRBO. I plan on taking my mountain bike, golf clubs, and hiking shoes. We may do a day trip to Crater Lake, and even the coast (if my wife gets her way). Other than that, plus a lot of relaxing, any suggestions on places to visit, things to do? I’d normally ask about places to eat as well, but my wife is not excited about eating out yet.
My day has come! Finally, I have a cause on this board!!!

Years ago my wife and I were in Munich, Germany and it happened to be Oktoberfest so we went over the park and took in the spectacle. People were super friendly of course, and we had to turn down a lot of beer. One of the Germans asked, "How do you like our Bavarian Disneyland?"
Ummmm, I've been to Munich. It's nothing like Disneyland.
Otherwise any strobe near the camera lens will just capture a lot of backscatter from all the suspended particles in the water. During the day you don't necessarily need a strobe, but it brings out the colors better. IMG_0479 shark backscatter.jpg
With sidelight, you can capture much better pictures, such as these from a night dive (and even then, you get a lot of backscatter). IMG_0493 sculpin.jpg scuba lobster.jpg
Not anything I've ever looked into. If I were ever to take up such a thing, I would invest in the housing for my 7D mkII, which would take a bit of research first.
That's the first I've seen of any of the four. Not my area of interest so far.
Olympus TG-6 is what I've read the most good things about for an advanced point and shoot. DSLR underwater housings are expensive. Never used either, but most reviews of the TG-6 are very positive.
I see it only goes down to fifty feet. Are you aware of one that could allow one to go deeper?
What should I get for underwater? My wife has the camera bug for birds and other above water wildlife. We used points and saved a lot so it won't cost much. Most people could afford what little we spend.
