I just changed the image settings options so that images are all shown full size by default."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Before I do so, can you tell me if you can edit it after posting?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

Anyone know what may be causing this problem? When I try to visit from work (only at lunchtime, I swear), I can't get to the site, and get the following message:
This is a very different result than if the company has blocked a website. In those cases a get a custom blocking message.Network Error (tcp_error)
A communication error occurred: Operation timed out
The web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time
At first I thought that Internet Explorer 8 (which we are forced to use) has some issue with vBulletin 4.2, but I can get on Utahby5 with no problem.
Any thoughts?

They force you to use IE? Why?"There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."

They don't give us admin rights, because too many people mess up their computers with admin rights, I guess, so we can't install anything that is not on the approved list, and the only browser is IE. I guess I should be happy; up until 2 weeks ago I still had IE 7. They just released 8. Also, they are currently testing Windows 7 (we are all on XP right now). They may roll out Windows 7 to us by the end of the year.

You wouldn't believe how some companies have their desktops locked down ...Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostNo idea.

On my current project in Bend, they gave me a PC there they want me to use instead of my laptop. Windows XP (ugh). IE 8 (ugh). Some things you can't do.Originally posted by FMCoug View PostYou wouldn't believe how some companies have their desktops locked down ...
1. Change the desktop background.
2. Set your home page in your browser.
3. Modify your start menu
etc.
And I'm an admin on the PC .. but this stuff is pushed down through Group Policy (a Windows Active Directory thing) which can override admin in some cases.Last edited by FMCoug; 03-01-2013, 12:13 PM."It's true that everything happens for a reason. About Groups:
So I was testing the group feature and the Private Groups aren't exactly private. I created a private, invite only group but there was zero privacy. The group is hidden from unregistered users (lurkers and Google spiders) as it didn't show up when not logged in. I had Gidget log in to test the privacy features but not only could I see all of the members of the group but also all discussions and posts. The only difference besides not being able to post in the group discussion was that next to the group name was (Invite Only). Also, I couldn't find any way to enable notifications. So if somebody posts in the group there is no way to tell unless manually checking the group's discussion board. Seems like a worthless feature. In fact the only difference as far as I can tell between the semi-private and private groups is that in the semi-private group one could request access. But if someone wanted to do that with a private group they could just PM anyone in the group to request such. Those hoping for their own speakeasy won't find it in Groups. Sorry."Nobody listens to Turtle."-Turtlesigpic

Why did you delete the group? I enjoyed those 4 posts where you were all scheming to troll the board. It's almost too bad you had the good sense to make sure the group was private before anything really good was posted.Originally posted by Surfah View PostAbout Groups:
