A lot of this is coming off to me as sour grapes.

I definitely think there's plenty of room for disappointment or resentment, depending on point-of-view, but I think we all have benefited from JL's largely unsung efforts over the years.

Maybe we could cut him a little slack.

I have my own ideas on what fueled the name-change, but I'm not here to try to reconcile the factions; clearly we're beyond that. The change is done. Let's take a few breaths, get some perspective, and see what that looks like.

In the meantime, there might be more interesting and useful topics for our attention and conversation.

I second this. I think JL is great, he has brought a lot of enjoyment to me through CUF. I think he is a huge part of what makes CUF successful. This change has really blindsided me. I'm still up in the air about what my level of future participation will be. I'd love to think the people and discussion will stay mostly the same, but I'm afraid it won't and I don't know what that and any possible alternatives that pop up will do to my interest going forward.

There's not much we can do about your craving for our approval. But I'll try. I love you too for all you did to make this board what it has been. I know what you did was behind the scenes and that no one has any idea what possible good you are around here, but in my heart I know you have done a lot. (I apologize to Cardiac and niku for my loose use of the work "know.")

I think this board has crossed the Rubicon.

JL and others have cited the Utes joining the PAC12 and the demise of the rivalry as the reason to push this board off the fence and clearly into BYU territory.

If so, that's fine. If this is a casualty of the Utes joining the PAC12, not spending 1 OOC game every single year on BYU and watching the "BYU to the BIG12" thread grow like a weed, then so be it.

In the end, Ute fans on this site should have listened to their upbringings in seminary and been reminded of the words of the famous snake: "You knew what I was when you picked me up."

We really have no reason to complain that we are on the short end of a douche move.

If the name were changed to UteCountry.com with a picture of RES would you feel exactly the same about coming here and realistically not expect anyone else to leave or post less because of it? Would you have even thought of joining in the first place? I think things could stay exactly the same here, but I really doubt they will.
