    Yes, it is.

    See? YOhio gets it.

No, I don't. In fact I rarely use it. That is just the thing. I have to agree to that stupid "I won't sue you" form every time I turn on the radio, because it is integrated with the nav system (uses the same screen).

        (cool smilie btw)

Ha. It must be a real drag for him to dig up his reading glasses before he fires up the chainsaw.

You know, I read that they don't put that garbage on the Stihl brand chain saws they sell in Sweden (where they are manufactured). The company decided it would be an insult to the intelligence of all Swedes. But the US corporate office wouldn't have it any other way.

Let's not pretend this is unique to my organization. It is some jackass corporate lawyer that decided that it would be a good idea to force me to push a button to agree not to sue my carmaker EVERY STINKING TIME I turn on the radio (with a nav system) in my car. And it was another corporate lawyer that put a cover on the blade of my chain saw that I have to remove that informs me that I shouldn't attempt to stop the moving blade with my hand. Really?
Dude the corporate suggested those things to avoid lawsuits brought by idiots who buy those products. Blaming the lawyer is like blaming the bullhorn for the message.

Exactly. Behind every rule in the missionary white bible is a circumstance that brought the rule about. Similarly, someone once tried to stop a chain saw with their hand, and got a big verdict because there wasn't a warning on the cover telling them not to stop it with their hand. If JL wants to blame anyone, he should blame the stupid jurors who continually get convinced to give huge verdicts which defy logic and reason.

I remember the car salesman asking if I wanted to upgrade my car stereo to the model that talks to me about legal stuff and takes adversarial positions against me, but I declined. Sounds like I made the right choice.

lol. Funny how neither of you mentioned the tort lawyers. The one group whose very livelihood depends on an unending sequence of lawsuits.

But you are both correct to condemn the US tort system as the root of the problem.

The tort lawyers are enabled by the gullible general public. I skipped past them and went to the root of the problem.

Civil and mechanical engineers who design and manufacture faulty products?

Upon rejecting the Beatles, Dick Rowe told Brian Epstein of the January 1, 1962 audition for Decca, which signed Brian Poole and the Tremeloes instead.

You must be a member of ATLA. You think failing to warn someone that they shouldnt use their hand to stop a chain saw (!!!) makes the chain saw defective? I cant imagine doing something that stupid and then, with a straight face, testifying under oath that i think the manufacturer/designer is at fault because they didnt warn me not to do it. If only there had been an adhesive sticker with a warning!

                          Whatever.

I beg to differ. That's likely a litigator who tells the corporate attorney that this is something that the company needs in order to prevent getting their asses sued off by some other litigator.

I bet if you hired a good enough attorney, you could get by that fairly easily, if you were ever damaged by the Radio.
