CUF has always been operated with minimal moderation. We (the Executive Committee, i.e. mods) deal out permanent bans only on very rare occasions and we decided some time ago that we are not inclined to deal with the headache of temporary bans. In most cases, we expect that self-moderation, group moderation, and private communication will sufficiently address problems that come up. There has been some attention in recent months on personal attacks that seem to be escalating. Some of you have requested that we reinstate temporary bans. While we are not in favor of doing this, going forward we are going to be more aggressive in deleting posts that contain inappropriate personal attacks. So please be warned that if you get out of line, some of your posts may vanish. We also recognize that there will be occasions where you disagree with our decisions (either action or inaction) on post deletion. We will do the best we can, but overall moderation will still be light.

An update on moderation and personal attacks

This seems like a good idea. Thank you. Going forward, if one of my posts gets deleted for violating this standard, I pledge to donate to a charity that soccermom, ClarkAddison, or happyone chooses."Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.

I must be too nice
I also think this is a good idea - it has gotten a little tense a couple of times in the last couple of months
I may be small, but I'm slow.

The camel's nose is in the tent
"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf
