  • Sorry about that

While your employers should thank me, I apologize for the outage over the last hour or so. I got a note from hostgator saying that there was a spike in server activity that went way over the limit so they put a lock on the database. But the website appeared to still be working (I got the message at 9:30 am). At around 2 pm I backed up the database and ran a utility to optimize the database tables (this is something they suggested doing). It seemed to run fine, but it corrupted one of the tables. Took me an hour on the line with hostgator tech support to get it resolved. Seems to be working fine now.

    Don't let it happen again.

But seriously, thanks for working hard to keep the site up and running and providing with opportunities to be less productive.

Since I no longer can access CUF at work - I personally didn't notice

I'll echo the sentiment and say thanks for all you do for this site

I may be small, but I'm slow.

#2 is the computer genius, but he has non-compete clauses with his employer that restrict him from destroying other websites without their permission. He can only do that two years after termination of employment, and only if it doesn't interfere with their own pre-designed website destruction plans.

Thanks, Jeff. Few recognize the frustrations that a corrupt database causes or exceeded CPU allotments. I would check the logs to verify that the site hasn't been hacked and you are now hosting bank of america's login. You probably already do that.

Number 2 is offended I said it would take 5 minutes to hack this site.

That said, given it's a federal offense and that JL knows precisely who I and my siblings are in "real life" (one of three people here, ex family), I'd say that would be about the dumbest thing ever perpetrated. So, uuhhhh, noo.

But I appreciate the sniping, Bishop. I had been missing the feel of Cougarboard, a place I haven't visited in nearly a year

I thought you would like the attention and knowledge I was such a student of your posts...not even a little?
