  • The formal intro and apology

    1. How did you find CUF?

    My brother, Doctorcoug.

    2. What do you like about CUF?

    (i) It's not Cougarboard; (ii) BYU71's booby girl; (iii) I can swear

    3. How did you choose your moniker?

Grandpa Viking is a pureblooded Norwegian; I am proud of my heritage.

    4. What do you do?

Hedge fund manager...Latam/Brazil-dedicated. We have offices in the US and in Sao Paulo.

    5. What goals do you have left to accomplish?

    (i) Become less of a jerk-off; (ii) Build a real firm with brand name; (iii) Be a better dad to my two girlie girls with one on the way; (iv) Rule the world.

    6. How many states have you lived in?

Utah, Illinois, Arizona, Texas, New York, California

    7. What are your sports loyalties?

    Football: Dallas Cowboys
    Basketball: Dallas Mavericks
    Baseball: NY Yankees
    College: UTexas, BYU

    8. What's your standing in the Church?

Officially non-Mormon. I love the Church and am not in the "hater's" club of ex's out there. I left on my own accord as Prop 8 was in full force last year and as a result of some personal interactions with some members that really pushed me off the cliff. I am 100% open to coming back to the Church; I owe the Church many things: my mission experience, primarily. My kids and wife are Mormon and I respect their views...I'll be back one day, I'm sure.

    9. Are you famous for anything?

    No.

I'd also like to apologize to some of you on the board...I have a bit of a jackass/mean streak inherited from my mom's side of the family...sorry that I can be a dick sometimes. This apology does not apply to Bernard, who can suck it.

I'm not in any sort of position to accept your apology, as you didn't do anything to me, but it is nice to see you apologize. Hopefully it can be put behind everybody and you can be a positive addition to the board. It's always good to add people with a broad range of experiences, and yours sound interesting, so if you're indicating that you are trying to turn over a new leaf and not be such a dick, goodatcha.

      Thanks for the intro.

By "officially non-Mormon", do you mean you had your name removed from the Church records?

Since you're coming back to the Church eventually anyway, it would seem a little bit easier to just take some unofficial time off.

Who is Bernard? I don't know of anyone on this board who goes by that name.
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

I'm pretty sure he's a mod over on CB, and, if I'm not mistaken, he goes by Shakey over here.

Oh, Shakey. Yeah, I know him.

Do you also apologize for your brutish comments about Goldman, Sachs & Co.?

I just got a notice from Amex that they were canceling my card because I hadn't used it in over 18 months. Could you or your friend whoever with the special card call and put in a good word for me?

For the record, it takes a lot to publicly admit that you were wrong and ask for forgiveness, so clean slate with me. I will say that I think that continuing to dump on Bernard/Shakey, even over here on this heathen board will win you few friends. If Shakey were actually an active user here, it'd be one thing, but you're taking shots at a guy who's not here, a guy who has many friends among the CUFaithful. Remember that and just let it go.

One thing I've learned on CUF....these are smart people and they won't stand for much bullshit. Now, here's your "question":

What Lat-Am/Brazil stocks do you recommend in the short-term?

                      I know Bernard personally hence...

I am pretty conservative about stock recommendations...I just don't do it...people get my recommendations from being in my fund. That said, I think it's time for a little cool down in the markets and we will likely see a return of volatility

I'm not joining your stupid fund. If you don't want to talk shop about your profession then quit bringing it up. Since you're above all that, I'll say that I like TNE, PBR, WMMVY, PCU, and CQB.

Maybe Wuap doesn't realize most funds take $1,000 bucks to get in.
