I would like to be very clever at this, but this morning I will be real busy so I won't have time, maybe later.Originally posted by YOhio View Post'71, have you ever heard of the game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon? The premise of the game is that any actor can be traced back to Kevin Bacon, within six degrees. For instance, Val Kilmer. VK was in Top Gun with Tom Cruise and Tom Cruise was in A Few Good Men with Kevin Bacon. So, Val Kilmer's Bacon number is 2.
I'd like you to use this format in application to the BYU Honor Code. For example, we could be talking about Cap and Trade. You would then mention that Cap and Trade is supported by Barack Obama, an African-American. You would then bring up how BYU needs more African-American's on the football team, but they can't because of the Honor Code. So Cap and Trade would have an HC number of 3. CT->BO->AA->HC.
So, let's play. North Korean hostage release.
Here is a quick one though. North Korean leaders encourage their people to snitch on those who aren't following the rules.

OK, the shrink said it was OK to open up my "innerself" to some anonymous folks some of who can be quite harsh with someone's tender feelings.
I was invited to CUF by a couple of posters. I will not divulge their names to protect their status. I do appreciate their invite as I have found this place both fun and intellectually stimulating.
I figured if I chose BYU71 people would think I graduated in '71 and give me a break figuring I was an older person. I forgot how bias people, even supposed good Christians are against old people. Actually '71 was the best score I had ever had at the time I picked the moniker. Since then I have enjoyed scoring a '69.
Other than reading CUF, I read CB and TBS. I also advise clients on investments. Luckily I am at the point in my career where I am not looking for new clients. Therefor 1/2 of my old work day efforts have been eliminated and I can take time to do this.
I of course golf. I enjoy hanging out with family, especially if it isn't too often.
I was on alternative career paths. I started out with a big 8 CPA firm in San Jose, Price Waterhouse. I then became a controller for one of our clients. I then came back to Utah to do real estate. The period of time when it was good was the most fun I had in a career. Unfortunately, Jimmy Carter screwed everything up.
Initially I wanted to be a lawyer. I always knew my primary talents were in being a jerk.
If you count 3 months as lived in, then I lived in the French timezone, Central, Mountain and Pacific.
I have lived in Michigan, Ohio, Utah and California.
RV'd through whatever states I had to to get to the Holiday Bowls, a game at Oregon State and a game at New Mexico.
I loved the Dodgers. Campanella, Newcombe, Hodges, Gilliam, Reese, Robinson, Amaros, Snider and Furillo. I don't really have pro sport teams I am loyal to now.
I am of course loyal to the Cougars. At least my brand of loyalty. I am not a "true blue" fan. If the Utes went to the PAC 10 and BYU went to the Big Sky, I could see myself becoming a Ute. I did get a graduate degree from there. I became a Cougar because they were good and a fun team to watch. Although I graduated from BYU, I don't feel that connection some do.
My standing in the church is just fine.
Since I am more of a hit and run poster, I am not looking forward to Wuap's question. I have noticed they tend to take some thought to answer and I might not get around to giving it much thought for hours, weeks or months.
I am hopeful this doesn't upset anyone or lower whatever standing I have on here, but what is, is.
Do I expect anyone to respond to this thread. If it isn't the biggest thread in the history of CUF, I will be crushed.Last edited by byu71; 08-11-2009, 09:08 AM.

Scoring a 69 should be something everyone has a chance to do. You are probably stuck with '71 as you moniker on CB as they likely would frown against you changing it to BYU69.Originally posted by byu71 View Post

I enjoy the curmudgeonesse that you bring to the board."The first thing I learned upon becoming a head coach after fifteen years as an assistant was the enormous difference between making a suggestion and making a decision."
"They talk about the economy this year. Hey, my hairline is in recession, my waistline is in inflation. Altogether, I'm in a depression."
"I like to bike. I could beat Lance Armstrong, only because he couldn't pass me if he was behind me."

I assume if I look that big word up, it is a synomym for intellectualness. ThanksOriginally posted by Jarid in Cedar View PostScoring a 69 should be something everyone has a chance to do. You needed to say something about Kobe Bryant to make that happen.Originally posted by byu71 View PostDo I expect anyone to respond to this thread. If it isn't the biggest thread in the history of CUF, I will be crushed.
I am glad you are here. I always thought it would be fun to play golf with you, but I am not sure if you still hate me or not.Get confident, stupid

I know at one time we had some good back and forths. Don't even remember what it was over and from my viewpoint it never even got to the dislike phase. Playing golf with you would be great, especially since you play really cool courses.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostYou needed to say something about Kobe Bryant to make that happen.

I have had people say after seeing me get into it with someone, wow you really hate that guy and the guy is one of my best friends.

A girl that works for our company works summers as a cart girl in Bend, she get reciprocal benefits at golf courses all over the state. She was recently telling me this and I told her that I really wanted to play Pronghorn (the Nicklaus course in Bend). Yesterday she sent me a facebook message telling me that she can get us on anytime to play, that Monday or Tuesday works better for her usually.
I really want to play, and play for free, but should I avoid this situation?Get confident, stupid

Is she under 19. Is she married. If the answer is no to both of those questions, I think since you are married, you should tell her she would be better off playing with someone who is comfortable with shooting a 69 and has done it before.Originally posted by HuskyFreeNorthwest View PostSince waup isn't around to ask his question I will ask you mine.
