  • In honor of my 500th post

I thought I'd do a belated introduction. Ellis Island didn't exist when I first joined up and then when it was created I was too busy to do a proper intro and well . . . here we are.

To make this a little more interesting (and self aggrandizing) I've decided to put this in an interview format. I think I've covered things pretty well. If I haven't then I'm open to possibly answering other questions.

    How did you find CUF?
Creekster recruited me from CB. Initially I didn't think I would post that much here because I felt I had a mission to force CB to think critically and be more introspective. I've seen the error of that line of thinking.

How did you choose your moniker?
    http://www.cougaruteforum.com/showpo...0&postcount=67

What do you do (other than read CUF)?
I love to cook (mostly Italian) and build things (currently working on trundle beds for my daughters). I dream of building a wood fired oven that I can use for bread and pizza (more for pizza than bread). I think I'm about three years from making that a reality. I've improved my grill skills recently, and I'm trying to decide if I'm interested in a smoker combo or not.

In my spare time I manage to work. I'm one of the nerds that was able to respond to Indy's most recent poll.

Did you ever consider an alternative career path?
There have been many days where I've told myself I should have been a carpenter, but other than a brief period where I thought I wanted to be a physical therapist, I've always wanted to be a distinguished professor. After I achieved the second aspect of that descriptor, I decided that I don't care so much about being distinguished, so long as I'm happy with my work. The irony of my profession is that I was an incredibly lazy student in high school. I had to take night classes to graduate.

How many time zones have you lived in?
Four. Mountain, Central, Eastern and Central European.

    What are your sports loyalties?
I guess all of my sports teams but one are a result of genetics. I'm a Cougar and a Tarheel by blood and academic degrees. I like the Jazz, my Dad has been a fan since they relocated to SLC. For some unknown reason I'm a Cubs fan. I still can't figure out how a bunch of dirt farmers from North Carolina came to love the Cubbies. I'll have to ask my uncle how that happened, because my dad just blindly followed his brothers and then successfully indoctrinated all but one (traitor) of his sons. I am also a Bears fan, but that's because of McMahon, Koz, Sweetness and the Fridge. I challenge anyone not from Wisconsin to listen to the "Super Bowl Shuffle" and resist falling in love with the Bears. As a kid it was contagious and irresistible. I fell hard and fast.

What's your standing in the church?
I like to stand in the foyer as much as possible, but to keep peace with my wife I usually sit in the chapel with her and our two girls. I used to be Gospel Doctrine teacher, which made things more interesting.

Are you looking forward to Wuap's welcome question and what do you think it will be?
Yes, very much so. Just because we're friends on facebook doesn't mean he can't harass me on CUF. If I were to try and guess he'd just surprise me with something even more ridiculous. Gimme a good one Wuap!

Do you expect anyone to respond to this thread?
    No, not really.

Never really been to that part of the state. In fact, I have been lately thinking I need to explore NC more. Probably going to be in Durham sometime this fall. Really enjoyed my trip there when the Utes played in Chapel Hill and of course the dozens of times I have been to the OBX. But I know that is a very small slice.

A belated welcome. I have enjoyed your posts.

I know what you mean about the Bears. Who didn't love the Fridge?

There's not much there. I think there are more hogs than humans in Duplin County. Wilmington is a pretty cool town and the beaches there are great. Growing up, we always went to Surf City on Topsail Island. It was the closest place to Granddaddy's house.

This is news to me cousin. Kill the fattened calf! I've found a relative on CUF!

This is true. Some time ago as I was watching Modern Marvel's episode entitled "The Pig" the fact before the commercial break was

The human population of North Carolina's Duplin County is near fifty thousand. The pig population if near two million, making it one of the most populous pig counties in America.

And don't forget they have the largest turkey processing plant in North America. Uncle L gave me a tour of it once.

Great belated intro post; I wish everyone on the board had a similar Q&A sheet. I, too, enjoy your fine bottled water and now, given your background, will forever associate you with one of my favorite movies, Cinema Paradiso.
