  • Hi

Now that I've past the 10 post mark, I'll follow custom and post an introduction.

I grew up in Utah, the U.C. to be specific, but call Michigan home now. Married for 5 years. To a woman.

No kids. To preempt wuapinmon, yes everything works as it should. It is by choice that we spend our time traveling and not wiping feces.

I've lurked for awhile and enjoyed the discussions. Hopefully my unique experience as a white, 30ish, Mormon male will add to the discussion.

Can you clarify which "Sloan" you hate and why?

If it's Sloan Peterson then he just needs to go out and rent Time Cop to remedy it.
Part of it is based on academic grounds. Among major conferences, the Pac-10 is the best academically, largely because of Stanford, Cal and UCLA. “Colorado is on a par with Oregon,” he said. “Utah isn’t even in the picture.”

Creating threads with such crappy titles is a poor way to get started off on this site.

I assumed he was referencing Sloan Square, the trendy but crowded area near London made famous in Morrissey's "Hairdresser on Fire."

Welcome, xx97! Good to have you here.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

Welcome to the board. Please answer the following question, but think carefully about your answer, as our future dealings depend upon your answer.

Harland Sanders is often referred to as Colonel Sanders. In 1935, he was awarded the prestigious title of "Kentucky Colonel." Thereafter he chose to refer to himself as Colonel Sanders, in spite of his never having attained the corresponding military rank. It is a Southern tradition to refer to professionals as Colonel, at least it was in recent memory. Do you think it was acceptable for Colonel Sanders to call himself "Colonel" based on his Kentucky award?
"Wuap's "problem" is that he is smart & principled & committed to a moral course of action. His actions are supposed to reflect his ethical code.
The rest of us rarely bother to think about our actions." --Solon

Wasn't Col. Sanders busted for kidnapping as a young man?

The Colonel's chicken is fantastic, but he was like the R. Kelly of fast food entrepreneurship, man. He had a little mini hotel built onto his Kentucky Fried Chicken to accomodate his mistress as well as his wife. Guess he liked to batter more than just poultry.

*bonus fact* Dave Thomas of Wendy's fame was the Colonel's long time apprentice and associate, and HIMSELF a Kentucky Colonel. Some cracks of daylight into the American Fastfood Illuminati.
