  • I'm here for the posts, not the jugs in the avatars

Don't worry, I'm not nearly as gay as my moniker might indicate...

I received an invite this morning (you can blame BoylenOver if my presence is unwanted) and thought I might give it a try. From perusing the board it appears as though one can stretch the bounds of creative speech a little more here than where I currently reside, I guess I'll see how it all works out.

To test things out, I thought I'd throw a few things out there - ass, damn, hell (thanks, that's 5 years of CougarBoard frustration coming out).

I just realized (looked up) that I joined CB on 07/07/04 - cosmic. In all honesty, my track record isn't very good when it comes to joining forums like these. I joined TBS for LOI coverage and Sexgate I is reported on LOI day. I joined CB and donated a few weeks later - the news of Segate II breaks. I will bear the burden for a lifetime should anything negative come up as a result of my enlisting here.

Welcome, foof. Good to have you here.
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

      Welcome to the board.

Before I decide if we can be friends, answer the following question; choose wisely, our future dealings will depend upon how you answer:

Given its harsh environment and abundant geothermic potential does it make sense for Iceland to court the Aluminum Refining/Smelting industry? Do the jobs and industry potential outweigh the environmental costs of polluting an Arctic paradise?

You suck. I was in the running for potd yesterday until you made the football recruits wisecrack. My six votes evaporated to two in a matter of minutes. I hate you.

Before I can accurately answer your question, I have to ask a question of my own - in what way will BYU football be affected by Iceland courting the Aluminum Refining/Smelting industry? Without that key piece of information it just sounds like a trick question to me...

Your hate is misdirected - point your venom towards Coach Rose's son, he's the one who swept away with the POTD (if you're worried about that kind of thing).

Alcoa is a major player in the world Al market.....it's conceivable that one of their executives, possibly a Utah native with a 6'6" 315 lbs. 4.7-40M son might get moved to Iceland to work there and his son would not be able to play his junior and senior years.....he'd have to make do with frozen soccer and lots of basketball. This might keep him away from the prying eyes of other scouts, but it also might make him diminish his skills to the point where, after his mission, he wouldn't have but about two good years, and would only reach his true potential when he went pro.

I can't hate a guy for posting about his father's cancer and thanking everyone for their support. You're getting both barrels. I could have been someone. I could have been a contender.

It doesn't sound like it would really affect BYU football negatively or otherwise. With that in mind, I'd say I'd have to be for it.

While I'm a big fan of all of God's creatures & creations and would hate to see anything happen that would diminish Iceland's inherent natural beauty or negatively affect the landscape, or gene pool, in which it's native inhabitants reside - I would have to assume that an aluminum can made in Iceland would keep my beer extra cold and that's all that really matters to me.
