    Hello from your newest member

The mandatory questions, things everyone wants to know about you:

How did you find CUF? This board has been recommended to me by others.

How did you choose your moniker? I served my mission to Korea and have family that is Korean. I am not Korean, sadly.

What do you do (other than read CUF)? Read, Netflix, bike, and spend time with the family.

How many time zones have you lived in? 4

What are your sports loyalties? BYU, Utah Jazz, Real Salt Lake, Arizona Cardinals. I'm a baseball, hockey, and Premier league atheist.

Are you looking forward to wuap's welcome question and what do you think it will be? I'm trying to think the last time I was this excited... hmmm... birth of children... no... wedding night... no... mission call... no... finally beating Ninja Gaiden on NES... nope. I guess what I'm trying to say is that this is a pretty big moment for me. I'm guessing it will have something to do with Cheetos... or was that Oxcoug?

    Optional, but encouraged questions:

What do you like about CUF? I like how there is (usually) honest discussion and a sense of community around here. People aren't shouted down for their ideas and (most) people seem to genuinely interested in preserving the community atmosphere. But if I were to be honest it is the Dining threads about smokers and ribs.

What don't you like about CUF? Sometimes people attack relentlessly like there is chum in the water and really pile on someone when it isn't warranted. Also, the Religion threads (which I generally like) can get hairy because it is hard to talk about things that are very personal and dear to you (especially if they are even slightly mocked in anyway).

Do you pee in the sink? Not since my sister caught me once in my younger days .

Did you ever consider an alternative career path? I switched career paths about five years ago. TV Broadcasting to Higher Ed.

When your kids get older, will you do drugs with them in order to teach them a responsible approach to drugs? No, I abhor all caffeine and chocolate.

What's your standing in the church? (this was originally meant as a joke but it stuck) I'm active and generously donate 60% of my time to Scouts . I definitely don't think the Church is perfect, but through it I have found what I consider to be my connection to God and it is a major part of my life and who I am.

Why are you so creepy? How long have you been lurking? I've been told to come here for a long time by many posters. I've lurked for a long time (2 years), but I just wasn't ready to join. I think I am now.

Do you expect anyone to respond to this thread? Yes, because that is what happens although I don't really know why. I'm not really that interesting.

Welcome, and be sure to loiter in the Bike Shop forum. And no offense intended, but the smell of kimchi is horrible, or at least I think so. As long as you stand downwind, we'll get along fine.

First night on my mission was a dinner appointment with a member serving Kimche chigae. I gagged on it and almost threw up. Then a few days later, at our apartment an elder made it for our dinner for all of us, the other three elders were chowing down on it. I thought they were pranking me. "Come on guys, joke's over, bring out the real food, you don't really like this do you?" Of course i also learned to love it.

No worries. My wife won't let it in the house, so I don't get it very often . Although I love seeing her face when we go to our Korean family's house.

The Bizarre Food guy (Zimmern?) has a great episode about Korea. It features the nectar of the Gods:

Ha ha. Clever, but I'm not suspended. I'm been lurking for a long time and decided that I should be part of this community. I'll probably do both honestly. I consider CUF more like the Senate and CB to be like the House of Representatives. I, however, won't cross the streams and will be respectful of both communities.

For a new guy you seem to have a pretty damn good grasp of what this place is all about - both good and bad

Welcome. It's not a bad spot once you learn your place and find a niche. I don't even click the religion threads and I'm in pretty good standing here.

Interesting comparison. But, sadly, in the end, both are full of self-important morons who can't get much done. I speak only of the House and Senate, of course.

Don't listen to PAC, kimchi. Kimchi (I don't mean you) is delicious, and it even brings families together. Welcome!

This should be a standard question.

To kimchi: welcome. Although you don't believe in baseball, I testify to you that it is real. And since we have common beliefs (BYU, Jazz) I am convinced that I can build a relationship of trust with you, resolve your concerns, and get a commitment to either Detroit Tigers or Atlanta Braves baseball.
