  • This board is AWESOME!!

I've long been looking for a place where I can be open about rooting for both BYU and Utah, and LDS things in general. Great board! Thanks!!!

Run-on sentences are the best and the Oxford comma sucks and you know I am right about both.

As a fan of Gabriel García Márquez and William Faulkner, I too share your love of run-on sentences, but the Oxford comma is where it's at (you, me, two turn tables, and a microphone).

What did this Moose character do to incur the wrath of CUF?

Signed up using really bad monikers.

Actually, I think his biggest sin was his defiance of the no dupes rule. He came here with a hostile Utezone-type attitude and annoyed everyone. His first account was banned, IIRC, after he told Lebowski that he didn't care if they banned him.

But I think he realized he acted to hastily, because he's been coming back ever since, signing up for new accounts, all of which have really long usernames. If he came back as "Steve," I don't think anyone would notice him.

IMO, Moose hasn't really done anything wrong outside of the dupes (which is something that others have got a pass for - see Flattop). He obviously reads the board and wants to participate. He's even made a plea for another shot, but so far that has fallen on deaf ears. He is, for whatever reason, banned on sight.

Banning a troll is ineffective. It just sort of validates them in their trollishness and they become obsessed.

The problem is, once you do you're sort of backed into a corner. You don't want to capitulate to the nuisance and let him back in. OTOH, you don't want to serve as his personal bouncer indefinitely, either.

Pest management is not an enviable line of work.

Try telling that to all those guys I halfway knew on the mission who tried to recruit me my first summer in Provo.

I say let him in on a trial basis. If he can show that he's not a pest for 60 days or so, then he can stay. I just don't think his relatively minor offenses require a life-time ban.

The mods are pretty smart. I'm sure they can sort it out. Adminning is one of those things that looks deceivingly simple and straightforward from the outside.

I'm not sure this is the kind of situation that requires a lot of behind the scenes work. But maybe I'm wrong.

In fact, I think I'll start a thread about this. Good idea Babs.
