I'm glad you resigned Byron. Any reason you didn't renounce your us citizenship all these years?

      Creek,

I don't really know you or anything about you. I can't recall you ever writing anything that was particularly memorable to me, but apparently the things I write have struck a chord with you.

In any case, I'm ok. I hope you're ok too. No ill will from me to you.

        I don't understand the comparison.

        I like roads and schools.

Maybe I like having a system where people have freedom of speech and where people can protest without losing their citizenship.

Maybe I dislike flawed totalitarian systems more than flawed democratic systems.

So you are supportive of a system that for the most part is good although it also simultaneously denied rights to gays???

I don't support denial of rights to gays under any circumstances.

I'm off to the game now.

No further comment on the matter. I think I've been clear on my opinions here.

seems like by not renouncing your us citizenship for the majority of your life you have supported the denial of rights to gays. You have supported it financially and politically. Not too impressive Byron.

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

It is true you know nothing about me. I'm glad you're ok. I'm happy you're happy with your choice. And I am fine that nothing I have written is memorable to you. I can live with all that.

I just dont know why you have to keep bleating about the same things over and over. But, if it makes you happy, have fun. It looks like many people here are fans and are happy to engage your pedantic chatter. I'll leave you all to it, for now anyway. But no promises, as I reserve the right to interject non-memorable comments at any time. Enjoy!
                  PLesa excuse the tpyos.

I have similarly noticed this myth among the ex-mo community that resigning is somehow a difficult process. I also love when people start throwing out threats of legal action, as if there really is a cause of action that someone could bring for the LDS church not removing records.

He probably voted for Obama, who was a gay hater at the time of both presidential elections he won.

Good people like SeattleUte should just go ahead and take care of this so their name is no longer in any way associated with the Church's discriminatory policies. It's also a much deserved vote of no confidence for the current leadership.
Either Jesus Christ was a liar, lunatic or Lord. Either Joseph Smith was a liar, lunatic or a prophet of God. If they were who they said they were (and I am absolutely convinced they were), then leaving the Church (the only place that has God-given authority to perform saving and eternal ordinances and where the true Gospel is taught more so than anywhere else) is a horribly foolish and myopic thing to do. People can intellectualize themselves into knots over various topics, but this fundamental decision is pretty black and white. If people think the Church is man-made, then yeah no reason to stick around (I wouldn't). The Church and its leaders are not perfect, but if you think it is true, but leave because of what's trending in society then that is just sad.

Maybe this applies to you, maybe it doesn't, but this growing protest culture where people keep trying to signal how virtuous they are and to boost their self-esteem by latching on to faddish causes is vacuous. Many have let go of the iron rod, become blinded by the mists of darkness and become ashamed when the people in the big building (society, pop culture) point fingers and mock.

This scripture I read the other night seems relevant here, too. The context is covetousness, but it teaches an important, general principle:

                            Luke 16:15
15 And [Jesus] said unto them, Ye [the Pharisees] are they which justify yourselves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is highly esteemed among men is abomination in the sight of God.

And just so we are clear, I do wish you all the best.

How about if I send a letter to SLC saying I resign from HT? How long would that take.

I agree (with the idea it's short-sighted to resign if you believe), but I don't think that's what is happening. I think the people resigning are those people who don't believe it in that same literal way you do.
