Thoughts on the morning session:
1. DU talk wasn't great (by DU standards). Almost seemed to argue for avoiding serious study of the church in the beginning. I guess you can't homer at every trip to the plate. But the ending was strong and it was probably still better than most GC talks. Love the guy.
2. Ballard needs to consider abandoning the "Old Ship Zion" metaphor. Not the kind of thing you want to feature every conference.
3. Never heard of a woman named "Neill". But I liked her talk.
4. Larry Lawrence. Strange talk. I tend to believe that when you get a prompting to clean your room or take out the trash, that might be common sense, not the HG. Also, not sure I agree about praying to find out what sin you are committing that is withholding a certain blessing.
5. Texas is a dumpster fire. Not sure Strong survives the season."There is no creature more arrogant than a self-righteous libertarian on the web, am I right? Those folks are just intolerable."
"It's no secret that the great American pastime is no longer baseball. Now it's sanctimony." -- Guy Periwinkle, The Nix.

1. Agreed, not his best, especially with the avoiding serious study of the church talk at the beginning, but I think the more important takeaway is the focus on being Christlike, not church-chat-lady-like, and recognizing He get's a pass.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThoughts on the morning session:

2. There are already memes out there about Lehi and his family "getting out of the boat"
3. She was nice, though she played up her accent a bit too much in her intro before modulating into a more neutral accent. I know, I'm nitpicking, but it's a pet peeve of mine.
4. You can tell Kimball's conception of forgiveness was key in Larry-boy's formative years.
5. We knew this when they played Notre Dame.Dio perdona tante cose per un’opera di misericordia
God forgives many things for an act of mercyAlessandro Manzoni
Knock it off. This board has enough problems without a dose of middle-age lechery.

I liked Lawrence's talk. Be honest with ourselves in simple contemplation and we will usually know exactly what we should be doing in all the little things of life. Do that consistently and it brings peace as well as further direction in larger things.Originally posted by Jeff Lebowski View PostThoughts on the morning session:

If I was caught with a cell phone out in the loft it would be my last conference.Originally posted by Bo Diddley View PostNeed some live commentary from Copelius.“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

Mostly used for MSW so he can tell us when we can sit during organ solos or spoken word. He also points at which section is on camera during the rehearsal/run-through each week. There is a nifty timer there as well that lets him know if he needs to speed up or slow down a song, again during MSW. I am not sure it's used much for conference.Originally posted by LVAllen View PostToday I learned that the choir director has a little screen on his podium. Not sure why it's there or what it's used for. Anyone have any ideas?“Every player dreams of being a Yankee, and if they don’t it’s because they never got the chance.” Aroldis Chapman

Two utes and an aggie. BYU left out of the Big 12 again.
One of the grandest benefits of the enlightenment was the realization that our moral sense must be based on the welfare of living individuals, not on their immortal souls. Honest and passionate folks can strongly disagree regarding spiritual matters, so it's imperative that we not allow such considerations to infringe on the real happiness of real people.
Woot
I believe religion has much inherent good and has born many good fruits.
