Skinny? Have you seen what they eat in Ohio?

In cultures that don't shun torture, there is real, prolonged disfigurement, loss of limb and ultimately loss of life. If torture is capable of extracting information from people who had vital information, that is the only form likely to reveal it. It may be that no form extracts reliable information. I am not in a position to know. However, as you stated, your scenario is very plausible for many people.
HAHAHA. Is this the greatest post on this board of all time? Really excellent work here, Topper, my friend.

It certainly belongs in his greatest hits thread.

Maybe your reasoning is too stunted and your vocabulary is too limited to go without these epithets."

AJ and you are reading it as an advocacy for trying torture. Not so. Only for an alternate reading of the facts.

I heard on NPR that polls say 2/3 of Americans support the torture. I guess this proves Mormons aren't that different from a lot of other people.

Personally, I'm against torture of any kind. I think as a nation and a people that we are above that and personally I don't see how that man could be worthy of membership in good standing with the church, let alone of being a bishop.

I don't know where they get that stat or from what sample but that couldn't be farther from the truth. The only people I've heard of that support it are the far-right wingers.

How many interviews were you able to conduct in that short week on the job?

I'm against torture as well, though not against all harsh treatment. I have no doubt public perception on this issue is tainted by what they see on tv and in the movies.

This nation is above that? You gotta be kidding me. We're not above any low down, ugly sort of thing. Who are you kidding? There is very little, this country hasn't done or won't do in the future. Never underestimate the depravity of your neighbor.

I think one reason may be that the church puts loyalty above morality.

Well, with everyone stating their preferences, I guess I'll just come out as being FOR torture.

Yeah, I know, nobody is surprised by that.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."
