  • I Need Your Help Utah Utes Football Trivia Experts

Remember that infamous Gordon Monson radio interview, where he asks this Ute football player a long rambling question about hopes and dreams, and mental preparations, and influences in his life, and trying to get a feel for the kid's current life choices asks him "so where are you now?" and the kid answers him "San Bernardino"

What was the name of the football player?

Dameon Hunter. Whatever came of his legal issues? I thought I read where he was accused, and perhaps indicted, for attempted murder.

Good runningback that missed the hole at the right time.

Goatnapper's correct - it was Dameon Hunter.

Not sure whatever happened with his legal problems. I'm not very good at googling because the only thing I came up with was a story about how he ran over the mighty USC team in the Vegas Bowl.

Wasn't it Adam Tate who if he cuts right instead of left means the Luke Staley miracle/Lance Rice pick never means anything and perhaps you all could have ended the Crouton era much much sooner?

So? It was coached by the awesome Pete Carroll.

Utah had Lance rice as their qb.

No, Palmer was only a Jr. and went on to win the Heisman as a Sr. the next year.

It was definitely Dameon Hunter. I remember listening live and laughing out loud at my desk at Hunter's response (I... I'm uh, in San Bernardino"). Hunter was on the golf course when he was talking to Monson, and it was evident that he wasn't really that interested in talking to Gordo. Here's the transcribed text of the question:

…It’s just interesting, your…your sort of, uh, transformation from your junior year in college to your senior year when you really started to turn it on but only on a part-time basis and… and… a lot of times, I’d be watching the game and I’d be thinking “Man, uh, you know, uh, if you got all the carries…I mean…. the numbers would be aSTOUNDING! But maybe you got more yards because you were a littler fresher that way, I don’t know, and now you’re ready, I talked to you during the season and now you’re on the edge, on the brink, of fulfilling a childhood dream of going to the NFL. I mean, uh, uh…you may be nervous, and you may be a little anxious, a little, uh, uncertain as to where you’re going to go, but can you characterize the feelings that are going through your mind? Uh, ya know, How you hanging on? Where are ya?”.....”I’m in, uh, San Bernadino right now.”……..”But, but, I mean, ‘mentally, where are ya?
Prepare to put mustard on those words, for you will soon be consuming them, along with this slice of humble pie that comes direct from the oven of shame set at gas mark “egg on your face”! -- Moss

There's three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who's got the same first name as a city; and never go near a lady's got a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, everything else is cream cheese. --Coach Finstock

That is good journalism right there. Monson has always been among the best in the business.

To think Gordon Monson gets paid to ask questions like that. Wow.
