  • Fight On, OrangeUte!

This sounds like a fun matchup, except why the heck would anyone want to travel to New Jersey to watch it? I guess it is an excuse to roadie to Manhattan. With upcoming roadies against Hawaii, Minnesota, Boston College, Notre Dame every other year, and now Syracuse.....SC keeps the OOC schedule interesting, that is for sure.

    OrangeUte, are you in?

Syracuse football? Is McNabb back in school? Fun roadie but there may have been a better big east or ACC scheduling option. Syracuse sucks. Go ahead and pencil in that W now.

If any of you need a place to stay when you're in Manhattan, I got confirmation from my cousin who lives just two blocks from the Ed Sullivan Theater that any and all are welcome to stay.

Now, she may have thought I was just kidding, but I don't kid about offering her guest bed to my online friends.

So, DDD, if you do go to that game and want to stay in the freaking middle of Manhattan, let me know and I'll make the arrangements.

Daryl Gross has been pushing for this since he came to the 'Cuse as AD a few years ago. I think it's good for SU if they want to become competitive again to play the best from places besides the East coast. I plan on going and having a grand time cheering on my beloved Orange of Syracuse - absolutely!

No place is as loud as the carrier dome on game day (not recently due to piss-poor attendance)...

DDD - you planning on attending?

Absolutely planning on attending. My brother and I usually try to go to the away games when they are in locales that SC doesn't visit often. New York/New Jersey would fit that bill. Also, we travel with the spouses and we get credit for a getaway weekend in NYC, as well. Double bonus!

I think SC is also strategically planning their OOC, with a greater effort to gain more East Coast exposure for recruiting. They also have a h/h with Boston College coming up.

You do know that the game will NOT be at the carrier dome, no? I would have loved to have seen that venue, though. The new Meadowlands will be great, I am sure.

That is a nice get for Syracuse....playing a three year stretch of ND, SC, and ND, plus whatever else they may have on their OOC docket. Should be a really fun series of roadies for you.

By far my favorite venue I have been in. Basketball games are awesome in the dome. Half of the dome watches the game and the half is like a tail gate party with a huge screen showing the televised game. Football is awesome as well.

It has sentimental value as well. We became Pop Warner Regional Champs in the Carrier Dome. That is where I learned all about turf burns.

Too bad that DDD won't witness the greatness that is the Carrier Dome.

FWIW, I am impressed with the push to get SU back in the spotlight of college football. Even if that means an ass-whoppin' by SC. What is the spread for that game going to be?

the dome is a terrific venue. when i was a student there i was able to play lacrosse on the old turf - i know all about turf-burn as well. it is loud and hostile, but due to a lack of success, the numbers have dwindled.

when syracuse stole daryl gross from USC, everyone figured he would bring in the savior of the su football program... this was based on the fact that gross had pushed for pete carroll at USC... anyway, he went with greg robinson, but that didn't pan out... the new coach, doug marrone, was the guy that many old players wanted the 'cuse to hire... finally he is there, and everyone has very high expectations... they play their old rival, penn state, this year, and that could prove to be a pivotal game for su's future if they win... remember mcnabb's team beating michigan, and putting the orange into a fiesta and orange bowl appearance over the next few years... the 'cuse just needs a big win to change its mindset - they are certainly scheduling for it... i just hope it doesn't backfire...

as for the meadowlands game, i'm very excited that the 'cuse is playing some games near the city... they have been losing tons of recruits from that area to rutgers, v-tech, west virginia, etc., and need to reclaim their home turf for recruiting...

gross is a smart guy, and this is an excellent move to play a national schedule, especially since the big east is so watered down and disrespected... they never should have shunned penn state, whom they drove away to the big 10.

Syracuse football helped push Mike Bellotti into retirement. The rumors, at least here in Eugene, were pretty strong that they were going to make a hard run at Chip Kelly.
