  • BYU's north star.

With all the different suggestions it is tough to keep track of what people want.

I'm taking "going to the B-12 or Pac" as the implied top choice for everyone. With those currently not options, please pick your preferred choice.

Feel free to post your own ranking or nuanced answers as well.

If BSU and SDSU bail on the BE I would prefer the MWC. If those schools don't bail on the BE I would prefer the BE. I think BYU, SDSU, and BSU would put the MWC to 13 teams. There may not be a spot at the table for BYU unless the MWC grabs Houston or Tulsa as well.

Either choice would mean a significant pay cut and downgrade in the schedule. But we would be in the enviable position of playing for a spot in the Vegas Bowl!

It's obvious: stay independent. In the era of 14-team conferences, BYU will be in a bigger league at some point, probably when we have a new President at BYU.

I don't care about pay cuts. Why should I, as a fan, care about E$PN money?
I bet the MWC gets a deal with ESPN and BYUtv could still get rights to the games not picked up. Hell I bet BYUtv could get rights to games that don't include BYU that don't get picked up like they did with the WCC. Maybe the powers that be would like to sell their BYUtv programming to BSU and Hawaii fans...

(I kinda laughed while typing that last bit)

The MWC can't get a deal with ESPN or a new TV deal until 2016 (they've had games on ESPN and NBC Sports in the past couple years, but those games were owned by CBS Sports/Comcast and sublicensed to those channels which really didn't help the conference tv payout).

It shocked me to see so many votes for MWC until I clicked to see the names and noticed that a lot of the MWC voters are not BYU fans.

The only reason I want to stay Independent is because I never, ever want BYU to have to ask Wyoming to get back together. Like ever. If the MWC came back to us on bended knee then I think BYU should consider it.

Please set this to music as I would like to add it to my running mix.

The MWC is dogshit. I'm kind of sentimental and a traditionalist and a couple of years ago I thought I'd miss playing Wyoming and CSU, etc. every year. You know historic rivalries, blah blah blah. I don't. Matter of fact, thinking about playing those teams again every year makes me wnt to puke.

I'm curious... What happened with Samuelson that thwarted BYU's efforts to join a bigger league?

Our north star is to effin win. If we do, we'll get picked up by one of the big boys in the next couple of years. But we can't have more seasons like this year...which makes me a little nervous about the future to say the least. I still don't think the MWC is the way forward, that move would be driven by fear.

We were waiting for you to tell us why we shouldn't be mad at him before continuing with that line of thinking.
