  • Apo's Route Running

What is up with Ross's route running? He rounds all his cuts, rarely comes back to the ball, and rarely gets any separation from mostly mediocre DBs. Though, he does block relatively well downfield. Is it effort, attitude, or lack of knowledge. He and Jacobson are BYU's version of Ocho and TO (sans the witty comments and great outfits), on field performance is nowhere near off the field hype.

Edit: Excuse my hack. I didn't see HL's comment about this in the Hoffman thread.

I might agree. But what does this have to do with Apo being injured last year?

doh'nuts is in court, so I didn't have permission to start a new thread. This was one of the only "Apo" threads I could find.

I agree that his effort/intensity is lacking. I also think some of those hits left brownies in his girdle (do football players till wear girdles?). I think he has yet to find the desire to deal with it all. It is likely either Tom Holmoe or Elder Bednar's fault!

No posts for a year. The thread was dead. Donut is a reasonable guy. Nobody wants to re-read year old posts about Apo's injury, do they?

Especially those who are not necessarily BYU fans who got bored of the BYU-Idaho game and changed channels. And saw this thread and then thought that not only was Nelson injured but also Apo. Then think: "What was Apo still doing in the game late in the 4th quarter whose outcome was already decided? Stupid Bronco!". I read the thread and find out that Apo was injured last season...and now I have to apologize to Bronco.

I think his biggest issue is not coming to the ball. Hoffman's going a great job at this. Maybe Apo can learn from him.

fallfrom posted this video in another thread. Has Ross bulked up since then? In the video he doesn't look that big next to (I assume) a fairly petite reporter. When he is uniform he looks almost overly bulky, for a relatively tall WR. Maybe it is just my perception.

Overly bulky? Dude looks like he needs to put on some weight/muscle to me. He gets pushed around way too much.
So Russell...what do you love about music? To begin with, everything.

Maybe it is just when he stands next to Cody or MJ, I've noticed it. I think it is because has a much thicker lower half then any of the other receivers.

Could it be he isn't that good?

You can tell from his arms that he's pretty ripped. Not much fat on him.

Fwiw, regarding Art's initial post, it was mentioned quite often when Apo got here that he had a lot of natural ability but was very raw. That is pretty much exactly what we're seeing.
