  • The Wolfman goes to Pullman: Utes v. the (other) Cougars, Nov. 19, 2011

I guess we should start a thread. What do you all see as the Utes' biggest tasks next Saturday? I think they need to pressure the WSU quarterback, who's shown he can pass. With too much time to throw he's going to be able to do lots of damage.

Young players like Halliday usually don't come out of the gate and put together back-to-back efforts like the one he had vs. ASU.

Outside of that, I don't envision needing to do anything different. Get a lead, win the turnover battle, minimize big plays from the opposition's offense and make sure JW4 gets the ball 30-plus times.

            Who's the wolfman?
            Give 'em Hell, Cougars!!!

For all this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still.

Not long ago an obituary appeared in the Salt Lake Tribune that said the recently departed had "died doing what he enjoyed most—watching BYU lose."

John White IV. I don't know where it came from, but RES plays a howling sound and flashes "The Wolfman" on the video board after a JW4 run of any distance, almost to the point of overkill. I keep waiting for them to play it after he's hit for a 4-yard loss.

It comes from the fact that on his bio it says that one of his interests is wolves.

                    It seems contrived to me.

When someone...ahem...coined the nickname "Juan Blanco" on one of the other boards and it gained some steam, it was rumored that he liked it. It's been used a bit but not by the school.

They've cut back at the games a *bit*. Whereas it seemed it was after every carry, now it seems as if it's maybe just anything 4 or over and/or a first down/touchdown.

I'm not a huge fan of the nickname, but if John likes it, whatever.

Another Steve Brown and Mike Norseth broadcasted game on KJZZ. Can't wait for all of our games to be on PAC-12 Network, FOX, FX, ESPN, and ABC next year.

Do you not have satellite or cable? Every game has been televised on one of the Fox Sports channels, save the BYU game.

I have the Dish Network Sports Pack, so yes. Only 3 PAC-12 games have been on FSN. The Cal and Arizona games were televised by CSN Bay Area and Fox Sports Arizona, and were probably had announcers just as bad. I don't consider those anything close to the National FSN games in production value. It's pretty much a guarantee that the ESPN, FOX, FX games are going to have good announcers generally (unless it's Craig James!), I assume the PAC-12 Network will bring in good guys from other sports and other networks like the Big Ten Network did.

It's too bad we didn't get a game on FX this year, where Gus Johnson resides.
