  • My house is falling apart

In the last year, our house has:

    - Had a major roof leak, prompting a new roof and interior paint job.
    - Needed a new furnace
    - Had a broken garage door and opener
    - Had a totally flooded basement, requiring extensive sanitation, ripping out baseboards and drywall, and carpet. Lost a few thousand dollars of stuff in the process that was unsalvageable. Just got the new carpet in last week.

Now, my wife calls me and tells me that the dryer isn't drying.

The sooner I get this albatross on the market the better.

You may want to rethink moving. It sounds like might have a new house already by the time you get finished.

I bet that's what the wooly mammoths in the La Brea tar pits thought too.

Knowing where you are why are you waiting to get it on the market? Its going to take atleast a year to sell. You are almost done with residency right?

How old is your home? About 20 years?

Stuff in our community is selling quickly, for Michigan anyway. We will need to be on the market in the next couple of months though. We are here until mid-June.

1950. But updated several times since then.

Why don't you look to see if it's the heating element? If it is it can be easily replaced by you or your wife.
