  • Bronco's comments about the Cougar Club

    http://www.deseretnews.com/article/7...r-mission.html

I'm sick of Bronco's crap. Calling the Cougar Club Pharisees and Sadducees is the last straw for me. If Bronco wants to play his games in a vacuum where he doesn't get any criticism, he needs to do it at another school. Maybe Ricks can open up football again where he can coach and make football priority #5. Does he realize that his biting the hand that feeds him? The fans and the Cougar Club in particular are the people that make it possible for him to have this job. Does anyone think the church would still be running a football program without donations to the athletic department? The Church won't allow the athletics program to use tithing funds. That why Ricks doesn't have sports anymore.

BYU is at a crossroads. I know they want to take the next step, but are they willing to do what it takes to get there? I think the next two seasons/off-seasons will be huge. I'll always be a fan, but the money is going to dry up fast with quality home games and quality wins.

"Discipleship is not a spectator sport. We cannot expect to experience the blessing of faith by standing inactive on the sidelines any more than we can experience the benefits of health by sitting on a sofa watching sporting events on television and giving advice to the athletes. And yet for some, “spectator discipleship” is a preferred if not primary way of worshipping." -Pres. Uchtdorf

I bet byu71 shook his fist at the sky and mumbled when he read those comments.

I don't really mind his comments, but do think he needs to use a little more tact. Fact is, he's not beyond reproach, but I sometimes wonder if Bronco knows that, and if so, whether he really believes it.

If anything, he should be willingly taking all the heat to keep it off his players and coaches, IMO (which he did after the game, BTW).

But really, BYU fans are whiny pricks, so I almost don't blame him.

If this kind of crap didn't spill into the football coaches and players, I wouldn't care.

However, I have said for years that Bronco's attitude gives an excuse to not perform or work to perform at the highest level. Can you imagine a CEO of a company telling his executives and employees that their jobs should be 5th on their priority level. Anyone knows that family, etc. come first, but you don't advertise that setting up an automatic excuse. I once had to fire a guy who pleaded with me that his firing was going to devastate his family. There was a lot more at stake than his family. His poor performance was going to cost us all.

Now, in a church setting you have that luxory of telling everyone about all these priorities, but not in your work environment.

Bronco has to please two groups. The religion/football group and the football group. He has his head up his butt if he thinks he is going to brow beat the football group into also joining the religion/football group. I know card carrying very active folks who are beyond tired of his righteous outbursts.

Saturday was a great accomplishment. I only hope the cougar club can bask in that sunshine come Wednesday.

Bronco can think we're all idiots all he wants. I don't care. He's probably right in my case. He just needs to shut his yapper and let his actions speak. Go out there and win and everyone will be happy. He gives way too many opportunities for his critics to speak out. If I didn't know better, I would think he's playing a game with the football only fans to see how much he can poke them to get a response.

No kidding. If I were in the CC, I would give him hell.

I'd Rise Up and call him a false prophet.

Quite frankly I am surprised he gets much criticism in those meetings. I haven't been to one in about 5 years. The one where he basically told us he didn't give a shit what the folks who didn't agree with him thought. I know several CC members and they don't go either.

I can't believe I still keep kicking in the yearly dues and fork out over $1,000 for tickets. I really, really believe something is going to change and I will miss out I guess.

Do we know of anyone attending? I would love to have a play-by-play of that meeting...

Was anyone there or know anyone who was there? Someone on cb claimed that it was a question from a little old grandma asking why they call passing plays well short the first down marker on 3rd and long that prompted that response.
